If the check engine light is flashing, you have a problem that can damage the converter. If it comes on steady while running it has set a code. You need to get a code reader or have someone with a scanner like your parts store check the coded. If it is flashing while running it may be a miss fire detected and you need to have it scanned before you damage the converters

Oil light on and beeping keeps sounding. i checked all fluid levels and they are fine. engine now makes a grinding sounds. any ideas?

it sounds like your oil pump is a gonner and if you keep on driving your engine will be too if its not too late already. stop driving it and get your oil pump checked

Gauges work fine when engine's started, then oil gauge falls below zero and warning light comes on saying "Check gauges," so I check the oil and transmission fluid levels and these are fine but...

start by checking the ground strap to the engine, and engine to body. The oil pressure sender unit may be bad. You may have to hook up an oil pressure gauge to the oil pressure sender port to verify proper oil pressure. Senders are cheap- I would just replace it and go from there.

Manual transmission

more than likely it has a hydraulic clutch. check under hood to see if it has a resivoir for clutch fluid. it isnt really big if it does but it will say on lid to fill with dot 3 approved fluid only if it does have one.

Check Engine Light

reddish fluid can be
oil (dipstick on motor)
transmission fuild (dipstick on transmission)
brake fluid (transparent reservoir on vaccuum booster)
power steering fluid (transparent reservoir on PS pump)
maker's dye choice for the fluid filled,
Check fluid levels and top up any that are below recommended levels immediately, then monitor fluid levels and fix any that show evidence of leaks.
The check engine light is an indicator, it just says that 'something' in the list of functions it is monitoring is not right. a code reader can be plugged into a socket under the dash to reveal the most recent error codes.
Many repair shops (around here) will read the codes for you gratis, in the hope of getting the repair job.
