On 2003 Cadillac Deville there is blower motor power module instead of resistor. There is a BLOWER MOTOR POWER MODULE located right next to the blower motor. It is a black colored component. On older models the blower motor control module. There is not a blower motor resistor on the deville. The ECC power module acts as the blower speed control. It is located about 6inches to the right of the blower motor. The ECC power module supplies voltage to the blower motor.

That could make some sense - I am not sure. there are several references to a blower motor resistor online including a picture of the one I just bought at Checker. When I purchased it I asked for an a/c blower motor resistor for a 2003 deville - they looked it up and pulled the part??? I know there is a posting stating the 2003 Seville does not have one. Can you double check please.

On some cars there is direct resistor. But your your car there is control module to which the resistor connected.----------
There is a resistor. But this resistor is connected to blower motor control module. This blower motor control module is also called(BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH).It has blower motor control module.(And THIS BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR IS IN THAT CONTROL MODULE.
Remove the glove compartment.Remove the right sound insulator.Remove the DIM module from the bracket.Remove the rear two DIM module bracket screws.Reposition the DIM module bracket to gain access to the recirculation actuator.Remove the blower motor control processor retaining screw. IMPORTANT: Note the routing location of the blower motor and the blower motor speed control module wiring. Improper wire routing will cause blower motor and blower motor speed control module wires to be pinched or chaffed by the DIM module bracket and cause wiring failure.Remove the electrical connector (2) from the blower motor control module (1).Remove the electrical connection from the blower motor.Remove the blower motor control processor (1) from the vehicle.ON top of the switch the resistor is connected.

this problem is not caused by the switch, it is caused by a defective blower motor speed control resistor, the resistor is located near the blower motor.

Hi i have a94 deville and the blower stopped working and a funny smell (like something is burning in dash)What could cause this?

It may be blower motor failure,I would suggest you replace the blower motor and also replace the blower resistor. The motor is located under the passenger side of the dash,Remove the plastic cover to access it.The resistor is located on the same side also.

Where is the hvac blower motor located? If you replace the blower motor do you need to replace the resistor too?

Dear Blower Motor Searcher,
The blower motor is located under the dash on the pass side in front.Open the pass front door , get on your knees, and look up under the dash, you will see the flying saucer looking object, that is the blower motor.Right next to it is where the resistor is located, and yes it is recomended that you replace the resistor also because that is where the main current flows thru to get to the blower motor. That actually controls the current of the motor, which controls the speed of the motor, low, med, high, recirc, etc....any other questions get back to me, TX!! HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

It sounds like the blower resistor needs to be replaced. Auto Zone will have the blower resistor that you need to replace and will have the step by step instructions for you to get the job done with common tools and will take just under 2 hours if your good with tools. Good luck and keep me posted, the cost of the resistor it self is around $27.00
