Question about 2006 Chevrolet HHR
need to remove the access panel by the lamp assembly. Small panel that is
square at the bottom, arched at the top. Use a flat head screw driver to
pop it open and stick your hand in and remove the socket. If you can
see the amp you took the wrong panel off. The access is about 2 inches
from the liftgate opening. Keep in mind that this can be replaced under warranty.

Identify the blown bulb. Note that if a headlight bulb has blown, the dip beam is on the outside and the high beam is on the inside. Turn off the ignition switch and light switches.
Open the hood and replace any blown headlight bulbs. Press the plastic spring clips and remove the bulb holder from the assembly. Pull the bulb out of the bulb holder and replace it with a new bulb. It only fits one way. Be sure not to touch the bulb's glass. Replace any parking lights at the same time, they are in the headlamp unit too.

Removal and Installation
To remove the plastic socket, turn the socket counterclockwise to the stop, and remove the socket. Remove miniature bulb from socket. Install miniature bulb in socket. Index the smallest tab for locating the three locking tabs, then press the socket into the rear lamp and rotate clockwise to the stop.
