Hyundai tiburon running at high rpms when shifting

hmmm....it would seem as if your trans is having a bit of a hard time shifting so its sort of waiting before it can shift to the next gear (possible the gear system is having a problem shifting due to it sticking to some gears) i'd have to say....a mechanic can take a look to see why its seemingly shifting late at high RPMs to me IMO the trans is just having a hard time shifting with gears wanting to stick together making the whole trans have a hard time shifting

The rpms seem higher on this vehicle than I am use to seeing, cruising at 80mph the car is hitting 4000rmps. Is this normal for this vehicle?

there is not enough specif details available to be able to be close to exact But I will give an example that you can compare
in a manual transmission with a diff ratio of 3.909 and in 5th gear the rpms for 79 mph is 3200 rpms
the difference between gears is around 250 rpms so if you try to correlate the differences if it was in 4th gear the rpms would be around 3750 rpms so I suspect that the over drive section of the transmission is not engaging ( assuming that it is auto transmission)
so to answer your question , I am saying that it is too high in rpms for that speed and I suspect that the od is not being engaged as the rpms at 80mph I would be looking at around 3200-3500 rpms depending on the diff ratio

Hard vibration

that is called MISFIRE.
it is caused by 50 things, (misfire and flooding)
why guess.?
vibration parked?
vibration racing in neutural?
hot or cold engine or both.?
only moving , ? at what speed, what gear, is it autotrans or sticK shift.
a mech sees all this in 5min flat, me never.
making me blind.
see, and anyone else too. id bet.

Saturn doesnt shift at high rpms

Hi,

How high are the RPMs that you encounter? Also, is it just one specific gear that you cannot shift to? Or was it others? Which gear is it?

Please provide this information so I can assist you further.

Good luck!!

2000 grand caravan won't go above 70 mph. high rpms

First I need to ask is it a 4 speed or a 3 speed transmission. If it's a 4 speed when driving down the road pull it from drive to third gear. You shpuld hear the engine speed up if it does not then that means you have on 4th gear and you will have to take it to a transmission shop. If it's a 3 speed then just count the shift points if all 3 gears are present then drive down the road and see if the van goes into tcc. When you mean the rpms are high how high are they.
