Question about 2005 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab. The problem is that I think someone tried to break in and did so by pulling on the passenger door handle hard. It needs to be replaced and I can't figure out how to take it off. Any advice? Thanks.

Need to replace top & bottom latch cables on both side of truck.

First there is one cable per door for the inside handle. The outside handles have rods, held in place by plastic clips. You'll have to break into it. Pry the top part of the door/window out at the back corner. Best is to use a sturdy metal rod and go after the door unlock switch(coat hangers don't get it). Or use something more pliable and grab the inner door handle. pull it out to open. Good luck.

After using slim jim car door will not open from outside or inside

You probably knocked the door linkage off during the slim jum operation, You will need to remove the inner door panel and re-connect the door handle linkage. Hopefully you did not break the plastic clip.

The drivers door handle will not open the door from the inside on my 2003 dodge dakota truck. it will open from the outside still. any idea how to fix it.

Take the interior door trim panel off and check the rods and connectors (plastic) connecting at the inside handle to this rod; and then the rod and connector to the door mechanism. Sometimes these plastic connectors become disconnected, but most of the time they break. The L portion of the rod goes through the hole of the connector. There is a pivoting "U" arm clip that clips over and onto the rod.

2000 2wd Dakota Quad cab, right rear door latch

Sounds like either a linkage rod came off or the interior handle is broken. either way you have to take the interrior door panal off to see which it is.

Rain water leak

Did you have the windshield replaced recently? This is typically caused by faulty installation of a windshield. Sometimes it can be fixed by adding windshield sealant (polyurethene, not silicone) where the windshield is adhered to the subframe - most likely along the bottom edge.

I need instructions on how to replace the passenger side mirror on the 2005 Dodge Magnum. I have the replacement but need to know how and what inside moulding needs to be removed to do it.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

I am trying to get the door panel off to fix my driver window. It came off the guide and won't roll up. I have 2001 Dodge Dakota. I have it unscrewed, but can't get it off the lock and the handle. What do...

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door
