The OBDI diagnostic jumper is installed to set the base timing. It disables computer control of timing while you set the dist. However, you must remove the jumper to drive the car, and then the computer takes over timing control. The only way to disable this is to replace the ECU software or go to a different engine management system. If you try to drive with the jumper in place it will go into limp mode.

A defective upstram O2 snesor will cause the engine to operate in the "limp mode", which is the ECU\'s attempt to save the engine since it has no combustion efficiency feedback. The engine will run "rich" and the timing may be retarded as well. You will notice the lack of power and poor fuel efficiency.

How do check to see if fuses are bad

Vnemanye. (that means listen, or, pay attention!) I can tell you how to check every fuse on the car in under 10 minutes, both the fuses under the dash and the ones under the hood in the power distribution box. All you need is an inexpensive testlight. With this method, you don't have to pull the fuse out to visually inspect it. And it's guaranteed to tell you if fuse is good or not.

Buy a testlight that has a needle-like probe on it. Ground the black lead of tester to a handy metal piece, a bolt, a metal bracket, or to the car frame. Now if you look at the top end of any fuse, there is a little indent on each side of top of fuse-those indents are there to accept a tester probe. Now turn the key to on, don't have to start the car, just key on. When the key is on, every fuse in the car will have power across it. To check any fuse, touch the probe to one side of fuse on that little indent. If grounded good, testlight should light up. If not, probe the other end of fuse. Even a blown fuse will have power on one side of the fuse. A good fuse, however, will light the testlight on both ends. A bad fuse, only one side of the fuse. A good fuse will light on both ends of the fuse, meaning the little metal strip inside the fuse is good and not blown. That strip or element inside the fuse is what the tester probe contacts through the little openings on the top side.. Do you see how it then should light a testlight at both ends of the fuse? Replace any bad fuses (sometimes difficult to remove-use a fuse puller or small pair of pliers, if you can't get it out with your fingers), turn key off, and you are done.
Hope this helps. Sorry if I was too redundant.

When you putting a 94 ford probe in time. Where do the timing marks go?

there should be little groove marks on the edge of the timing gear, line this up with TDC (top dead center), there should be another groove mark though just above the gear.

Ambient air temp is readying high on my 2007 Ford F150, possible causes?

Usually it is the temp probe on the radiator support behind the grille.
When you pop the hood there are 2 probes there, 1 in the ambient air temp probe, the other is the front impact severity sensor. temp probe has the little probe sticking out of it. I have seen mixed results on replacing this, some it corrects the issues, others are still not happy after the replacement. I make the assumption ( bad thing some times ) that the ones that are unhappy are using an incorrect comparison temp sensor ( bank sign, etc ).

timing and dwell angle is non adjustable in these later model vehicles. the dwell is simply a reading that might be useful on a scope, while the timing advance is controlled by the systems ecu(computer) by taking readings off the knock sensor(or pre detonation sensor). this is a mazda engine. is there a problem or are you simply trying to keep up on the maintenance?

If anything with Honda's you wanna advance it and run decent gas. I used to advance it so far until it pings then back it off a little. Increased power AND gas mileage.

Vote for me.
