No special tool needed these things just get stubborn sometimes. The last time I had one stick I had to take a large regular flat head screw driver and use it to pry the drum off a little at a time to do the brakes. Turned out to be the old brakes being adjusted too far out. If your parking brake is engaged it will also lock the drum on because the pads are in contact with the drums.

indicates a brake problem
get it to a specialist brake shop for a diagnosis and quote
repairmen only get expensive when they know that the customer is clueless so get the diagnosis first then compare quotes

Brake shoes on 1987 f250 460 1987 2 wheel drive how to replace

Lift the front of your Ford F-250 off of the ground using a jack and jack stands. Remove the wheels from the Ford with a lug nut wrench to prepare the truck for servicing. 2 Open the hood on the engine compartment and take the lid off of the master cylinder that bolts to the brake assister on the driver's side firewall.3 Remove the hex-head bolts on the back of the brake caliper with a socket. With the bolts removed, pull the caliper off of the Ford's brake rotor.4 Pull the old brake pads out of the caliper and discard them. Squeeze the brake piston back into the backside brake caliper with pliers, and then insert the new pads into the brake caliper.5 Pull the rotor cap cover off the middle of the rotor with a screwdriver and use a socket to remove the nut located behind the cover.6 Pull the rotor off of the wheel spindle.7 Remove the old wheel bearings from the brake rotor and insert them into the new rotor. If the old wheel bearings are worn, replace them with new bearings.8 Slide the new rotor onto the wheel spindle and secure it using a bolt and socket. After you tighten the bolt, press the cover back onto the rotor.9 Place the caliper on the rotor and secure it with a socket and hex-head bolts. 10 Duplicate the process on the passenger side of the F-250. 11 Close the master cylinder after putting the wheels back on the Ford and lowering it to the ground. Press on the brake pedal to seat the pads against the rotor

I took my '03 Dodge Caravan SE to Firestone for new tires and brake inspection. The mechanic was not able to remove the drum. He said it was because the drum were rusted on and there was a "lip"...

i would spray a solvent all around the back of the drum , where it is held on, use possibly a rust remover, or rust loosener spray, all the way around , then take a 3- 4 lb hammer and tap all of the way around it to try and free it up, if that doesn't work , then you could try a wheel drum puller, but take it slow while trying to remove it, hope that this has been very helpful to you.

1999 Dodge RAM 2500 drums won't come off

Well, I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 2WD with rear drum brakes and I tried to buy a puller to get them off. Couldn't find one anywhere. I welded one together with some scrap steel and a stearing wheel puller bolted to the top. I was supprised it worked so well. There not easy to beat off. All that is required is sufficient force to move them. Once there loose the rest is easy.

How to change a rear wheel bearing on a 1994 toyota camry

The rear wheel bearing on a toyota camry is replaced by replacing the wheel bearing and hub as a unit. this is a design change as compare to older models with two piece wheel bearings. Scotch drive wheels. Remove rear wheel. Remove rear brake drum. (note: if emergency brakes are applied you will not be able to remove brake drum) Remove dust cap and hub retaining nut. Hub should slide off as unit. Replace hub with new unit. Installation is reverse of removal.

How do you get the rear brake drum off?

2003 dodge neon sxt

Here are the steps;
) Park on a level surface. safety
) Block all the other wheels. safety
) Put the vehicle gearshift in PARK. safety
) Release the handbrakes.
) Slightly break the rear wheel lug nuts seal while on ground. Just loosen do not remove.
) Jack up the rear wheel.
) Check to see the wheel will turn so you know the brake shoes are not binding against the drum.
) Now you can remove the lug nuts and wheel.
) Remove the drum. Some times the drum has frozen on with rust. You may have to use a hammer and hit along the drum near the outer edges to break it free.
