How to Clean Carpet

Tips to Clean Car Rugs

The carpets of the car suffer immense wear. They support our weight with all kinds of shoes, and suffer constant friction by the movement of our feet, in search of comfort. Therefore, we must give an adequate maintenance so that they are always kept in perfect condition.

Cleaning under car mats

Depending on the make and model of your car, underneath the carpets, you will have a closed cubicle of various materials, mostly plush. We must keep them in good condition, as they are the ones that ensure a good fixation to car mats.
At least once a week, remove the rubber mats, folding them towards the center to avoid spreading the dirt. Remove and clean the bottom carpet with a vacuum cleaner, rubbing the brush vigorously. You can do a more thorough cleaning, sprinkling baking soda and let it act at night, to suck in the morning. This cleaning will not only remove pebbles and other dirt that could affect the carpet's rubber mats, it will also reinvigorate the texture of the interior carpet, leaving it more fluffy and fit to secure the rubber, either thanks to its rough texture of the face Inferior, or by strips of velcro that you can adhere with universal glue. Thus, carpets will never slip.

Cleaning the car's rubber carpet

Once the rubber carpet is removed from your car, shake it to remove any dirt. To clean it, nothing is better than simple warm water with detergent for dishes concentrated. This will leave them clean and shiny, well moisturized. After brushing, rinse with hot or warm water and let dry, always hanging in the shade, as the sun and excessive heat can dry and alter them.

After cleaning and drying, check the rubber mat to analyze the damage and bad sectors. This not only responds to an aesthetic question of the car, but a damaged carpet could cut, move, settle behind the pedals preventing its proper operation; This is potentially a great danger for the driver and the rest of the occupants of the car.

If you notice that the rubber mat has damage, you should repair it immediately. With the carpet totally dry and cold, measure a piece of sturdy fabric (can be jean or denim, or other similar fabric) and trim, exceeding the total crack size or damage. Apply two-component glue or contact cement on the fabric, in a thin layer, and do the same around the broken area of your car's rubber mat, for the reverse. Let the glue bake until it has a bite but does not stick to your fingers, and place the clipping cloth, making some pressure.

This technique will be applicable for breaks in the center or in the contours of the carpet, where pieces will not be missing. If there are missing debris, you can replace them with rubber scraps (broken or punctured hot water bags are ideal for these jobs). Finally, you can take advantage of the time to attach velcro straps (the rough part or hooks), to leave the carpet clean, firm and fixed in place.

Heater core leaking

Pretty big job but has to be replaced asap. The fumes/vapors from the heater core will eventually come though the registrars and make you sick and mentally affected. If the floor board is wet under carpet, inside front windshield has oily, hard to get off residue and/or sour bittersweet smell; it's already affecting you if you spend much time in the car. Headaches, blurred vision, anger, dark circles under eyes. The heater core going bad is a common thing for Lincoln Towncars. It will cost around $600 to have repaired and about 6 hours. Also FYI, intake manifold recall for repair has expired for most Towncars but it should be looked at for leaks. The factory installed plastic gasget warps.

The hazard warning lights are flashing, only way to turn them off is to to take out fuse which also stops central locking. I think it is water problems affecting the comfort control unit. How do I get to...

even if you rip up the carpet you have nothing to see as its a "black box"try reseting the alarm/immobiliser to see if that has any effect..

I have no heat in the winter and it sounds like i got water in my dashboard.

Most likely a bad heater core. It's behind/under the dash. There should be two hoses that go into the firewall under the hood. These carry and return warm coolant to the heater core. The blower motor blows across the heater core and pushes the warm air into your car. Try feeling the carpet under the dash on the passenger side. See if it's damp. Many times if the core starts leaking, your carpet will be damp over there. I've also seen them completely plugged up with dust/dirt/debris/insects, so the air wouldn't flow through it from the fan.

How do I change front blinker bulb on 2003 chev impala

  1. Turn the engine off and open the hood. Pry up the two fasteners from the radiator air baffle with a flat head screwdriver. Move the baffle to the side to access the top of the headlight case.
  2. Step 2 Pull up the two metal rods behind the headlight case. These secure the case to the car. You may need your pliers to pull them up.
  3. Step 3 Gently pull the headlight case out to access its rear. On the rear, you will find several black dust covers. Twist off the dust cover closest to the fender (the outward dust cover) to access the turn signal bulb.
  4. Step 4 Turn the bulb module counterclockwise to release it. Unplug the electrical connector from the bulb module. Connect the new bulb to the electrical connector (don't touch the glass with your hands; hold it by the plastic piece). Insert the bulb module in the turn signal housing, turn it clockwise and screw the dust cover back on.
  5. Step 5 Insert the headlight case in the mount. Push the pins back down to secure it. Position the radiator baffle in its place and insert the fasteners.
  6. Rear Turn Signal Bulbs
  7. Step 1 Open the trunk. Remove the net from the side mounted wing nut (on the side with the faulty turn signal). Twist the wing nuts (there are two per side) counterclockwise to remove them.
  8. Step 2 Peel the carpet layer back to access the rear signal lamp wing nuts. Twist these wing nuts (two per side) counterclockwise to remove them and release the rear signal.
  9. Step 3 Carefully pull the rear signal assembly away from the Impala. The rear turn signal is the inner bulb (closest to the trunk). Press the tab on the bulb module and turn it counterclockwise to release it from the rear signal assembly.
  10. Step 4 Pull the old bulb straight off the module (don't twist). Insert the new bulb in the module. Depress the tab on the connection and insert the module back in the assembly. Twist it clockwise.
  11. Step 5 Insert the rear signal assembly. Re-attach the assembly's wing nuts and push the carpet layer back in place. Tighten the other two wing nuts to secure the carpet layer and reconnect the cargo net

Electric door lock jamming rear of side

Does it jam or deadbolt, if you do get it open spray wd40 into the mechanism to lubricate it.If you have a 1997-2004 model or newer, look in the passenger footwell under the carpeting as the wiring loom rots and there are 6 joints that break the one that affects central locking&doors is 2 reds joined and 4 reds joined that break appart and sometimes the affected door is the first to break away then the others will follow.I have never come accross a faulty door lock actuator mechanism but dry joints are mentioned in lots of chat sites.

When i bought my car 08 xb scion on 6/07 new car, but it never had that new car smell. Smell is a strong odor. Dealer replaced ac vent hoses, also heating ducts, have 9 repair orders for this problem....

It's probably caused by water leakage somewhere. Carefully check the carpeting for any dampness. The padding under the carpet may be wet, and this would be difficult to detect, and dry out. I have a car that developed a leak at the firewall, resulting in a terrible disgusting odor. I had to pull the carpet back to reveal the area that was soaked with water (the padding under the carpet is like a sponge). After repairing the leak, it took some time to dry out the padding. I used a lot of baking soda to help absorb the odor. Dust with baking soda heavily, leave overnight and vacuum it up, repeat many times. Since this is a new car though, the dealer needs to correct this by pulling out the carpet to see where the problem is. It could also be caused by a plugged (pinched or improperly installed) drain tube from the a/c system. This is a shame, because the Scion is a great car with an excellent customer satisfaction rating. Let me know how you make out, or if I can be of any help.
