This is an easy fix. There are two pins on the outboard side of the cover that fit into the body that must be disengaged. Open the rear hatch, Remove the two screws (Philips screwdriver) on the inner side of the cover and gently tap the whole cover towards the outside of the vehicle. The bulbs are easily accessible once the cover pops off. they are a 1/4 turn bayonet mount. Simply turn the lamp mount (where the wires go through) ccw and the base will come out of the lens.

Open the hatch. Then look for round plastic covers behind where the taillights are . Use a screwdriver to pop them open. Then you will see a knob. Unscrew that knob an the whole taillight can be pulled away from the body of the car. Replace bulb and install everything the same way.

i will tell you how to replace it

  1. Set the Sonata's headlamp switch to "OFF," engage the emergency break and remove the keys from the ignition.
  2. Use the trunk release latch to open the trunk, and then step out of the car.
  3. Find the taillight assembly cover in the back of the trunk. Twist the knob counterclockwise to open it and reveal the inside of the assembly and bulb sockets.
  4. Locate the bulb socket holding the broken bulb. Turn it counterclockwise to detach it from the taillight assembly.
  5. Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket and replace it with the new bulb. Toss the old bulb into the garbage so it doesn't become a hazard.
  6. Push the bulb socket into the taillight assembly and turn it clockwise to secure it.
  7. Test the new signal light to make sure it works before closing the assembly cover and shutting the trunk.

The door chime and the tail lights and the park lights are not working,,, but the int. lamp is

The first thing to look at is the fuses located under the drivers side steering wheel (near your left foot) there is a plastic cover, remove the cover and look at the diagram on the back side of that plastic cover. Pull the taillight fuse and replace it with the same number identical fuse and your door chime, rear taillights will come back to life. Also check each taillight bulb, sometimes when one of them burns out then all of them stop working.

How do you replace brake light bulbs

  1. Slide your fingers beneath the carpeted trunk trim and peel it away from the trunk's interior.
  2. Remove the four wing nuts that fasten the taillight assembly to the car. Place the nuts in your pocket or a small bag for safekeeping.
  3. Lift the taillight assembly away from your Grand Am's body. Press the five restraining tabs to release the assembly plate from the lens cover.
  4. Pull the defective bulb directly out of its socket and replace it with the new bulb. Once it's secure, press the assembly plate back into place.
  5. Test the new light to make sure it's working. If the bulb lights up, attach the lens cover, fasten the wing nuts and replace the trunk trim.
