The cam shaft sensor or 'accuator' (is that a typo?) is not getting a good electrical connection when powered on. Could be a bad wire or wiggle the connector to it to see if it gets better.

run fault codes to find if there is a problem sensor . Have a load test done on the battery to determine if it has failed. Have a test done on the alternator to check the out put. Two possibilities, poor electrical connection at the cam position actuator sensor (CPAS) connector or a clogged CPAS. Check connector first for oil residue. The CPAS itself is prone to clog if the oil is not changed at the proper intervals. Unfortunately, the CPAS is a little difficult to remove since access to one of its bolts requires the removal of the power steering pump.

How can I replace a cam shaft position sensor in a 2007 Ford Five Hundred

A check engine light or MIL Lamp, indicates a
possible System Fault has occurred

You Check for Codes

The Codes direct you to a System

You then need Factory Diagnostic & Emission Manuals,
so you can TEST Sensors or Wiring that may be the fault

Codes therefore do not tell you any parts has failed
Only knowledge of how that part works & how to test it,
will result in the possible need to replace, has to fail a test first

There are other reasons for codes, than just sensors, even
thought the codes indicates one

You can not work on that high tech car yourself

Diagnostic code p0013, p0014

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0013 is "Exhaust Cam Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid Control Circuit"
Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0014 is "Exhaust Cam Position (CMP) System Performance"

DTC P0014 can be caused by several things that can affect your variable cam timing system performance including using the wrong viscosity engine oil. However, since you have the DTC P0013, it is pretty obvious that the problem is being caused by a circuit malfunction in the control solenoid circuit. It could be as simple as a loose connection at the solenoid electrical connector. It could be that the solenoid itself has an open circuit in its coil windings, or it could even be caused by squirrels or mice chewing on the wiring harnesses in your engine compartment. You must diagnose the circuit to find the cause. Fixing the control solenoid circuit will most likely make both of these codes go away.

96 vw golf p0341 error code

This P0341 code basically means that the powertrain control module (PCM) detected a problem with the camshaft signal. The camshaft position sensor (CPS) sends a specific signal to the PCM for Top Dead Center on the compression stroke as well as signals indicating the position of the cam sensor. This is accomplished through a reluctor wheel attached to the camshaft that passes by the cam sensor. Any time that the signal to the PCM is inconsistent with what the signal should be, this code is set. NOTE: this code can also be set by extended cranking periods.

Symptoms: The car will likely run with this code set, as it is often intermittent and also because the PCM can often operate the vehicle in "limp-in/limp-home" mode even with a cam sensor signal problem. There may be no noticeable symptoms other than:
Poor fuel economy (if engine runs)
Possible no start condition

A code P0341 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Cam sensor wiring routed too close to spark plug wiring (causing interference)
Poor wiring connection at cam sensor
Poor wiring connection at PCM
Bad cam sensor
Damaged reluctor wheel

Possible Solutions: Often relacing the sensor fixes this code, but not necessarily. Therefore it's important to check the following:
Check that the wiring isn't routed too close to any secondary ignition components (coil, spark plug wires, etc.)
Visually inspect the wiring at the sensor for any burn marks, discoloration indicative of melting or chafing
Visually inspect the cam sensor for damage
Visually inspect the reluctor wheel through the cam sensor port (if possible) for any missing teeth or any damage
If reluctor isn't visible from outside the engine, visual test can only be done by removing cam shaft or intake manifold (depending on engine design)
If all checks out okay, then replace the sensor.

My volvo s80 check eng, light is on and the code is p0011 and (cam shaft postion sensor) the the abs and all other lights keep going on and off every time i start the car i need some help please help

Hi there,

Firstly, when starting the car, ALL warning lights should illuminate briefly - this is a self test to ensure these systems are working ok. When the Engine Check light remains illuminated, then a fault has been detected.

Code P0011 can be triggered by the following issues: Improper camshaft timing, wiring problems, continuous oil flow to the VCT piston chamber, faulty timing valve solenoid.

Due to the possible causes above, only an authorised Volvo service agent will have the correct scanning/diagnostic tool to identify where the problem lies.

I recommend you have the service agent carry out a further diagnostic...

I have a 01 325 bmw- runs great, however, the service engine light has stayed on continuously. Car was placed on diagnostic computer. I was told that I need cam-shaft exhaust replaced- this is what showed...

I need moe information than just the exhaust cam shaft needs to be replaced, it it's a twin cam I want to know how they determined it was the exhaust cam and not the intake, either can cause fuel mixture to be off to make the check engine light on Unless its is a common problem and a recall on this car. Before I would replace cam I would do a dry and wet compression check to verify that it's the valves. and if the cam needs to be replaced then you need to do both plus the valves. and guide seals as well, even gide seals on the intake could cause faulty reading so if there was no compression test the information is inconclusive more test procedures need to be done before tear down also does it have a rubo? and is it gas or diesel? I need this information to to diagnose properly. Or to narrow it down..
