Question about 2006 Kia Rio

1 Answer

My husband has a 2006 Kia Rio that he bought used from a car lot. He's had it for two years and the past month it has started jerking, getting horrible gas mileage, not shifting correctly and this morning completley broke down loosing all power. I was curious what might have caused this?

Could be the mass air flow easy way to check find it remove the clip from the pig tail then pull off the pig tail if the car runs a little better thats the problem,it will not run alot better only a little.
you should have gotten a check engine light on the dash.
check to see if the light works ,simple turn on the car but dont engage the starter.all the light should be on including the check engine .if not it was probley disconected to hide a problem, take it to an auto parts store and ask them to check your code if your light is on or doesnt work at all. its free auto zone advanced auto etc.ask them for the code and a list of possible solution to the code

Need diagram for 2006 kia rio timing belt where do i find one

Timing Belt Rio 2006 (Removal for 1.6L engines: ONLY 2006 CARS)

This is the same information that us Kia techs use to diagnose vehicles. Lots of useful information. For your particular vehicle, lookup a 2003 for the timing belt information. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

2006 kia rio jerks at stops, stalls out, and recently shut off

Atuomatic trans sliping , or manual trans clutch sliping should not cause stall. sounds more like fuel or ignition problem.

I am thinking that one of the " upgraded items " ?? is not much of an upgrade.

Be carefull of kia's , The timing belts are famous for breaking and destroying the engine even before the recomended replacement mielage.. If it breaks , they don't warantee it because you never had the belt adjusted. Funny , they recomend adjustments but not part of the scheduled maintainance.

when your car starts geting close to 80,000 Km's / 50,000 miles have the belt done , but I wouldn't have it done at a dealership. It's a 1/2 hr job that a dealership might charge 2 hours for. I avoid dealerships ( for any make of car ) at all costs , unless they are doing free warantee or recall work. ( I take that back , I have had good experiances with Honda dealerships )
