Explain in detail what you need, and how you came up with a short. Don't get many of thoses.
If you got a code as such, install a new sensor and hope that is your problem.
Not suggesting throwing parts at it,but O2 Sensors can short out.

I have a 2009 oyota matrix turns over fine but wont start

code p 2238 refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 1 bank 1 positive current control --circuit low===causes --wiring short to ground --HO2S
also refers to oxygen sensor (O2) 1 bank 1 -positive current control --circuit ;ow==causes --wiring short to ground ---O2S
also refers to heated oxygen sensor 1 bank 1 ---implausible signal===causes --wiring short to positive, short to ground --HO2S---ECM
at this point I suggest changing the heated oxygen sensor in bank 1 exhaust before the cat converter using the specialist tool as the sensor wires are delicate and subject to easy damage

Have code P2238 - what could be the cause ?

code p 2238 has 3 references
heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 1 bank 1,positive current control---circuit low ====causes ---wiring short to ground ---HO2S
second reference
oxygen sensor (O2S) 1 bank 1 positive current---circuit low====causes ---wiring short to ground ---O2S
3rd reference
HO2S 1 bank 1--implausible signal===causes ---wiring---short to positive ---short to ground ---HO2S---ECM
as the heated oxygen sensor is common with wiring problems indicated , maybe changing it will fix the code
note
HO2S is the sensor in the exhaust manifold in bank1 before the cat converter

I have the check engine light on and the scan read P0135 error - what is this?

P0135 code is: Oxygen O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 1)

This code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 1.

The heated circuit in the oxygen sensor decreases time needed to enter closed loop. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0135.

Symptoms: You will likely notice poor fuel economy the illumination of the MIL.

Causes: A code P0135 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: O2 Heater element resistance is high Internal short or open in the heater element O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance open or short to ground in the wiring harness.

Possible Solutions: Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor)

What is p0141b and how to fix it?

Technical Description O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 2) What does that mean? This code means that the heated circuit in the oxygen sensor on bank 1 decreases time needed to enter closed loop. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0141. See also: P0135 (Bank 1, Sensor 1). Symptoms You will likely notice poor fuel economy the illumination of the Check Engine Light. Causes A code P0141 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: open or short to ground in the wiring harness O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance O2 heater element resistance is high Internal short or open in the heater element Note: Typically a failed catalytic converter does not cause this code. You're more likely to see a P0420 code for a failed converter. Possible Solutions Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor) Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors

Try wiggling the wire to the Oxygen sensor. Probably just corroded or loose! Worst case, $25 for a new sensor.

code p2249 has the same causes short to ground---ho2s and o2s
code p2518 refers to a/c refrigerant pressure sensor B ---circuit high===causes wiring short to positive--a/c refrigerant pressure sensor.
so after all that replace all the ho2s and o2s sensors using the correct tools so that the wiring is not damaged and check the wiring back to the ECM for burns and rub marks.

Error code p0155 on ford windstar 2002

Hi there:DTC P0155 - 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
This code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 2. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0155.
A code P0155 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • O2 Heater element resistance is high
  • Internal short or open in the heater element
  • O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance
  • open or short to ground in the wiring harness

Possible Solutions
  • Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors
  • Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor)

Code po141

This code means that the heated circuit in the oxygen sensor on bank 1 decreases time needed to enter closed loop. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0141.

Here are a few causes, that may have contributed to this failed sensors actions:

A.Open or short to ground in the wiring harness(CHeck the sensor harness for this type of fualt)
B.O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance(Replace this sensor if this exsist)
C.O2 heater element resistance is high(Replace the sensor if this exsist)
D.Internal short or open in the heater element(Replace the sensor if this exsist)

NOTE_Possible Solutions

A. Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor)
B. Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors
