Did you ever think, that it was leaking refrigerant in the first place, and polluting the atmosphere.
If you need to recharge it,you must by federal law, recover the existing freon, repair the leaks, pull a vacuum, test that the system holds, then recharge.
You need to get this done professionally, by a shop equipped and trained to work on A/C

You want to pay for all that ****?

  • Anonymous Aug 07, 2010

I'am only telling you what Federal Laws requires.

I have to be licenced to buy the R12 used in older vehicles. Current R134 should have been included.

What I explained, is how you repair and recharge any A/C system.

    Auto,roof top,refrigerator,home central air, etc.

The point is--I'am trying to be helpful as well as explain why cars went to R134,is because of the Montreal Protcol ,as a result of these refrigerents causing a hole in the atmosphere and adding to global warming

I know you could care less. You can not get your car cool again until you repair a leak,if you have one,and pull a vauum, before recharging. That is how the physics of refrigerants work

I agree it is expensive. Over a $1000.00 in some cases. At least you didn't loose a compressor, you could double that, just to be cool.

2008 nissan altima coupe the ac blower comes on then it turns off

Sounds like you have a bad connection at the blower motor plug. Have you checked under the glove box where the blower motor is? Usually has a big plug with 2 heavy gauge wires. that might be melted or getting a bad connection. Try holding the plug to one side or wiggle it to see if turns off blower. If not, check your resistor that controls your fan speed, located near the fan on your a/c ducts. Usually has a plug with 4 0r 5 wires held up by 2 screws. The wires are heavy gauge as well

2005 altima blowing hot air

could be your switch, or you have a freon leak and there is no freon in the system. open hood and watch the ac pump and have them turn on and off the ac. if in engages then it is probably freon. if it doesn't check ac fuses.

Air condition blowing hot air. Type of car: 2003 nissan pathfinder 4x4. Should I replace/add coolant?

Lack of Coolant wouldn't cause your AC to blow hot air.

You may have a vaccum leak in your dash board that is causing your heater to remain stuck.

If not this, then you will have to have your AC recharged. You can purchase a recharging kit from your local auto parts store! Fortunately, your vehicle can use the newer type of AC Recharging kits so you have many options!

Good luck and I hope this helped!

Ac blowing hot air from one day to next and all fuses are fine

need to recharge the coolant in the ac compressor, you can now do this yourself go to auto parts store and get a can of refrigerant and the hose to do this real easy and only costs about 30.00 to do yourself. Or make sure you dont have your control set to hot.
