Question about 1998 Chrysler Concorde

Open Question

Transmission fluid levels on my 98 Chrysler Concorde are out of whack. It was at a normal level, and no fluid was added. My car began buzzing at highway speeds, and I realized that I was in 3rd gear the whole time. I checked the fluid, and it was well past the curved part of the dip stick. Assuming someone sabotaged my car so that I would have to pay for more services, I siphoned some of the fluid out (about a quart to a quart and a half), and the level read where it should have been. I just checked it again, and the level is back up! The whole car also shakes when I shift gears. Unfortunately, I had a family emergency and had to take a 6 hour drive each way before I could get it looked at.

SOURCE: How do you add transmission fluid to the torque converter on a 98 chrysler concorde?

The nine quarts is the total capacity of the transmission. The only time you would use all nine quarts is if you where flushing the transmission. You will need to drop the pan and start over as your transmission is now severly overfilled. I left the details of how to do this in your previous question. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

What does 2002 chrysler concorde engine code P0846 mean ?

Transmission fluid pressure...If the fluid level is ok the most likely cause is the 2/4 clutch's pressure switch itself. This is located in the solenoid pack mounted to the valve body. The solenoid pack isn't that bad to do on a hoist, but it will be a pain to do on the ground. You have to drop the valve body, which can be tricky and there is the potential for some pretty serious damage if not done correctly. It would take you a few hours to do.

How do I add transmission fluid to a 1996 concorde with a 3.5 liter eng?

Buy a funnel with a long flexible hose, and place the end of it in the transmission fluid dipstick hole. Add no more than a a few ounces of fluid at a time before rechecking the levels - preferably while the transmission is hot and the motor running.

How many quarts of transmission fluid is required for a 1998 chrysler concorde and does every quart go in the transmission?

If your dropping the pan and replacing the filter than it would be a good idea to have six quarts of ATF+4 handy. You will add four quarts after you reinstall the transmission pan. With the vehicle on a level surface; Start the vehicle, put your foot on the brake, and put the transmission in each gear for a couple of seconds. Return the transmission to park. Check the fluid level. It should be about in the middle of the crosshatch area on the dipstick. If it is low add a half a quart at a time until it is at the proper level. Put the transmission in each gear again and then recheck the level. Topping of as necessary. You should be good to go after that! My 2000 concorde runs great when cold then tranny slips when hot. . . . . ?

Fluid level ok? Check it when hot and car running.

Have you had the tranny serviced recently?

This type of tranny uses the Dextron +4 fluid, any other fluid would mess up the transmission.

I have a 1999 Intrepid, no problem w tranny, but a month ago I put an aditive that a friend recomended. After only about 5 miles I felt the car more responsive and with more power. I also think my gas mileage improved.

I got it at AutoZone the brand is RISLONE Transmission Stop Slip with Leak Repair
it says works with all types of fluids.

I hope this will help. Good luck

My 2003 chrysler concorde is leaking transmission fluid. what is causing that?

All depends on where it's leaking from. If it's leaking from the transmission pan, then it's going to be a bad transmission pan gasket. If it's leaking from the transmission cooler line or connections from the transmission to the radiator, replace the line or the connections or just the O-rings in the connections. If it's leaking from the transmission housing where the engine and transmission mates, then it may be the from pump or Torque Converter. The leak could be coming from the CV joint inner shaft where it connects to the transmission. Good luck and keep am eye on your transmission oil level, low transmission fluid will cause transmission failure.
