Question about 1993 Buick Skylark

1 Answer

Engine hesitates when accelerating from a stopped position, esp when it is cold.. skips then it seems to do beter at higher speeds.. mechanic says "electronic control module" .. is this the same as the engine control module"? ..or the same as an "ECM"? or are all these different?? been looking online and it is hard to tell whether they all come with "coils" or not.. the best one i've seen is called an "engine control module" but I found a less expensive choice on ebay for 50$=snH called a "93 skylark ecm" Mh ???

Sounds like a malfunctioning egr system. Too much egr gasses at once will lean out the air fuel mixture and cause hesitation in an engine. Just my 2 cents.

I have a 1996 Plym. Grand Voyager, hesitation & stalling.

If it works well at speed and acts up when slowing or stopped it doesn't sound like fuel filter or pump. You can try running injector cleaner through the engine to clean the carborator injectors or fuel injectors if you have those. Look at replacing the plugs and wires on the motor.

Hesitation , skipping, engine cuts out when accelerating

Im having the same issue I believe. I have a 94\' Chevy 1500 and when i accelerate it will jerk like the gas has cut out but it wont stall. It just jerks and slows me down. It only seems to do it when going up a hill. I feel like it could be the fuel pump or possibly some intake gaskets?
