Question about 1996 Pontiac Grand Am
Your post is 22 days old
some car manufacturer's tell you not to drive it if its blinking , some say its okay to continue driving only limited distances.the most common dammage will be catalitic converter damage. but not the only damage that can be caused.
if you still have not taken care of the problem .heres what you can do for free. take the car to an auto parts store that offers free check engine check(most of them do) just tell them your check engine came on or had came on (even if its not on) ask them for a print out of the code and the meaning of the code.example p0103 mass air flow low voltage .if they cant give you a print out of your code and meaning write it down. this is your starting point to fixing your problem.if your going to fix it yourself ask again for a print out of troble shooting tips.(things to try before buying a part) .you can also check to see the prices of parts there .if you still need help try posting your code or codes and meanings to get faster response .happines is no check engine light ! unless your an over paid mechanik ! good luck
