I would say that that the blinking light is letting you know that the immobiliser is active. Once you key start the car, the immobiliser recognises the car is going through an authorised start and disables itself. Most alarm systems in cars have a warning light letting anyone know that it is armed and will not start.
The engine light blinking means you have a catalytic converter damaging event taking place ! Need to have it checked out ,checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! Possibly to late ,lack of power indicates damaged catalytic convert ! Those can cost up $1,000 . don't use cheap aftermarket ones ,they don't work !
Fuel pump may be giving out or fuel filter is clogged or if your car has a regulator, that too may be going bad. Check all three or have someone do it for you.
use noid lights to see if injectors receiving power. you disconnect injector connector .hook noid light to connector to see if it blinks when you crank engine. if light blinks . you are getting power the injector is not working..if you get no light you have a open in wire. if the light on steady not blinking you got ecm problems .also check injector fuses.
You need to Replace the Catalytic Converter. That is what you are Smelling. It has Clogged up and will also Cause the Light on the Dash Problem. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
