'05 Amanti. Engine light had been coming on but dealership didn't see any problems. This morning it wouldn't start but all the interior lights started flashing, and continued for a few seconds AFTER I turned it off and took out the key. I've noticed when it rains mostly on acceleration that the car acted like it needed new spark plugs (which were replaced). Dealership didn't find anything there either.

If the problem repeats again n again then its advisable to get car scanned at diagnosis center to get error codes, At diagnosis center you will receive the error code.As per the error code it will detect the exact faulty part in the car due to which the problem is occurring. For more help :--- at www.autozone.com its absolutely free to get car scanned.
But if no code is retrieved then the problem has to be located manually by testing the parts.
There are some possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--
1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery. With meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged. If the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop. If the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.
2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack.
3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car. If the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car. But if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.
4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.
5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then it’s a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked. The car gets power from the battery to get started. so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

When I got in my car this morning it didn't turn over right away...

You may have a dead battery issue caused by a defective alternator, have them tested at a local parts store like Autozone, the testing is free.

Every once in a while my check engine lite comes on. When I started my car this morning, I notice the needle for the RPM jumped back and forth for a few seconds, then went to zero. After pulling away...

The problems could be related, or separate.
The first thing to do is have the computer scanned for trouble codes to find out why the check engine light is coming on.
The codes will give you or a mechanic direction as to what to test.

My 95 maxima wouldn't start one day I started by

My best guess without being able to see the car is that the battery hard wiring is faulty.

You need to check both the condition, routing and security of the battery negative and positive leads.
You also need to check the security and condition of any additional earth leads which connect the engine to the chassis/body.

My 2007 dodge charger didn't crank so I jumped it

A battery from 07 is still decently new to be that bad, but I would check the alternator first, just get the car running and unhook the positive cable from the battery, if the car dies the alternator is bad.

BMW 325xi; 160k; check engine light on-->next day, wont start!

I would try to jump it to see if the starter engages and the engine runs, if it does you have a connection problem between the engine starter and the battery, if it does the same thing with cables then you will probably have to tow it in to the shop. I do not think your problem is related to cold weather, but it could very well be related to the check engine light. Exactly what the check engine light is on for I can not say with out a code, but I agree with your thinking about taking it to the shop. Hope this helps, let me know.

Engine check light on

My '06 Corolla's CHECK ENGINE light came on the other day and then went out after about a half hour. It was back on this morning and stayed on, and I noticed that the automatic transmission was shifting a bit more roughly than it ever had before. Took the car to a Toyota dealership immediately. The guy told me that Toyota has had an ongoing problem with the CHECK ENGINE light coming on due to a faulty CPU (car's computer "brain"). This has been affecting models from '05, '06, and '07 according to him. He said Toyota had extended the warranty for this particular part (i.e. the CPU) due to it being faulty. The warranty expires once you reach 80,000 miles, and my car has 87,000 miles on it (yes, I do drive that much for my job!). But the guy at the dealership was kind enough to put in a new CPU for free because I have been a good, loyal customer there. The CHECK ENGINE light is now off and it should stay that way.
