If it is. an automatic... Use a funnel and add directly into dipstick tube. If a standard... You will need to remove the fill plug from underneath the vehicle to add fluid. Not an easy do it at home task
automatic or standard? Automatics have a dipstick, you use a funnel and pour it in through the dipstick tube, Standards have a bolt on the transmission you need to take out and fill it up till it can hold no more
check transmission fluid. There should be a dipstick under the hood only if it's automatic. If it's a standard, there is a lot more to checking fluid. If there is nothing showing on your dipstick add some through the dipstick tube. Never add fluid though while car is running in gear as it will take off on you when fluid reaches transmission. Add a liter, check again, then follow the proper way to check the fluid level. The proper way will be written on the dipstick itself. It may say check hot in park, or check in neutral, but never add it like that if there is nothing showing on the dipstick.Let me know how you make out
Is it a Automatic or a (Standard) Transmission in it, If it is a standard it has to be taken in to a shop to check it,Because the (Plug) Is mounted on the side of the (Transmission) If it is a (Automatic) You add fluid, Where the dipstick is to check the leval. On a (Automatic) It will be On the engine ,In your engine (Comparment) If not shure take it to a garrage,Most garrges will not charge to check it for you if it is a (Automatic) Trans in it,Hope this helps you out,
THERE WILL BE A DIPSTICK FOR THE TRANSMISSION IF IT IS AUTOMATIC! STANDARD WILL BE A SERVICE PLUG ON THE SIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION! IF IT IS AUTOMATIC, PULL THE DIPSTICK OUT, PLACE A LONG TUBE FUNNEL IN THE DIPSTICK HOLE, AND SLOWLY ADD THE FLUID, CHECKING TO BE SURE YOU DON'T OVERFILL IT! YOU MAY HAVE TO ADD A LITTLE, AND REPLACE THE DIPSTICK, TILL YOU REACH THE FULL MARK! BE SURE YOU ARE ON LEVEL GROUND!
Add your fluid through the tube that your transmission dip sick come out of. Take out your transmission dipstick(make sure it is not the oil dipstick) put a funnel in the tube and add the trans fluid. Check the fluid when the trans is warm because trans fluid expands with heat and you want to make sure you don't overfill. Add small amounts at a time.
The manual transmission in the Ford Escort uses transmission fluid, it is checked and filled in the same hole. That hole is where the speedometer cable is hooked up to the transmission. Remove the speedometer cable, set aside, then remove the locking bolt that holds the speedometer drive unit in place. Pull up on the drive unit and it will come out, look on the side of the drive unit and you will see the level indicator line for full and add. Fill as needed and reinstall the drive unit and cable. Hope this helps, let me know.
Pour the fluid down the same hole the dip stick uses unless its a standard then you have a different problem. To reset the computer take the negative cable off the battery for about 10 minutes.
