Maybe the bearings are frozen, it will not do any good to change belt, until you find out the bearings are not frozen.

2007 Kia rio clutch repair

UNless you have a lot of knowledge available to you ( friends with mechanical knowledge ) this is a job best left to a shop to be done. The time to to replace should be less than 4 hours labour plus cost of clutch kit including throw out bearing

It doesn't matter the clutch sizes or actual part,
you have to have it repaired anyway

My a/c pump is going out and I want to bypass it.

If you don't have the AC turned on the clutch in the compressor just free spins. If the clutch is going out on the compressor then you will need to remove the belt from it and either get the belt for your motor with no AC or find a smaller belt that will work. The main issue you will run into is if that is run by a serpentine belt in which case there will be no option but to repair the problem. TO make sure the AC is not kicking in disconnect the electrical plug from the compressor in the engine compartment.

I have a 2002 buick rendezvous and the air compressor has locked up and broke the serpentine belt. Is it possible to re-route the belt to bypass the air compressor or buy a smaller belt? Any other options...

If you have the ac turned off the clutch on the front of the compressor should disengage. Then the ac pulley will spin freely and you can drive until you save up for a new compressor. You may want to save up they are about 3 to 400 bucks plus installation which is about 300.

Grinding noise coming from one of the pullies (bottom one).its a 93 cadillac 4.9 engine.

Good morning, If the noise is coming from the pulley closest to the radiator the it is the air conditioning compressor. You have a couple of repair options: If the noise comes all the time, a/c off then you have a failed pulley bearing to repair you can just replace the bearing or replace the pulley and bearing as a unit and the clutch, you can replace the whole compressor. you can get a smaller belt and by-pass the a/c compressor. getting a belt will be a hit and miss attempt because I can't tell you the length belt you need. You might try putting a small rope around the pulleys the same way the regular belt is routed then take it to a parts store to have them attempt to match it up (take old belt with you so they can see the width. This needs to be fixed because the noisy pulley will lock up, break the belt, when that occurs you won't have any power steering, the water pump will quit and the engine will over temp (run hot). Hope this helps

The a/c clutch locked up. CAN I GET A SMALLER BELT AND BYPASS THE A/C? iT DOES NOT WORK ANYWAY.

I did it on my Buick when the same thing happened.I ended up using a belt for a Chevy with the same exact engine, just no a/c on the Chevy motor. That is what you would have to do.It's about your only option if you aren't going to replace the clutch.Call a few shops and ask if they know of another car make with the same engine but had no a/c installed in the car.Someone will know and tell you for free.Perhaps a national auto parts chain will know.Try them first.
Good luck! Greg

Questions about ac pulley and belt?

the defrosters run with the ac compressor running whenever its 49 degrees and higher. it does that to get rid of humidity faster. the pulley works off the ac clutch behind the pulley so you have a locked up clutch. find a belt to fit by bypassing the ac compressor will do if you like

My transmission shifts really good but when im in overdrive driving a steady 60 its slips just a little and slips back, continues till its hot and quits no more slipping

Torque converter lock up clutch is slipping, not good, Its not that it quits slipping when warm, it quits WORKING when warm and is not even trying to lock up any more. Need to have this repaired right away or severe damage will result. Depending on what year it is depends on what is needed for repair. Up until like 2000 it requires the valve be modified and torque converter replaced, after that its seals and torque converter. Any competent trans shop should be able to repair easily.
