Hi my 97 cavalier shifts semi hard 21-25 miles and hour lifting foot at this speed shifts smooth Mr Stern? I was told speed sensor there are 18 I bought front sensor because of heat eng/trans?

The firmer the shift, the longer the transmission will last. This is why people install "shift improver kits" and perhaps a prior owner did that to yours.

You can actually buy a trans cooler kit from most motor shops. Install one is quite easy and most kits come with instructions. Get a larger one if your car is going to be doing some harder work.. You will also get a longer life from your trans

4x4 K1500 Chevy Truck, 4 wheel drive repair instructions

There are a number of different hub systems so this may not work but it has worked for me on both auto and manual locking hubs. On a flat surface without traffic. Put the trans into neutral, shift the transfer case into 4x4, shift the trans into reverse and back the truck up 15-20 feet. Completely stop and shift trans into drive. See if this has locked the hubs in. If not, you can also try following the same instructions except shifting into 4wd low. Sometimes the hubs need a "bump" to get them to slip into place. Keep In mind that if the 4 wd low select works, you need to shift it back into 4 wd high before continuing! When taking the truck out of 4wd to 2wd, I recommend the same, shift to neutral, select 2wd, back truck up, shift back to drive and check. Its entirely possible that your hubs need maintenance (they're often overlooked) but hopefully this will get you going. Please let me know if thus worked or if I can offer other suggestions. Good luck!

I need detailed instructions on how to replace the clutch on a 1987 Ford Bronco II, 4wd, manual trans, 6 cyl. Can you tell me where I might find this information online?

It is a copyright infringement to give info copied from a book ,unless you pay for it...I can tell you the fnt end of truck needs to be jacked up so you have plenty of room for repair.also if fluids are drained from trans and transfer case they will be able to handle better...
remove fnt and rear drive shafts and trans shift linkage . also the transfer case linkage . the speedo cable and wirig to trans will need to come off....now support the trans with a floorjack and remove the crossmember support... let the jack down a little to acess to top trans to engine bolts. thenremove all bolt except 2 ...one on each side take the bolts out of clutch slave cylinder and move away from your work...reposition jack to the center of trns and remove trans carfully.one hand on trans tail shaft and one on the jack handle. lower trans assembly to the ground after you have cleared the clutch..now follow instructions in new clutch and reinstall ...

Broken shift cable on manual trans. how do unhook cable for shifter

pull the console out and take a good look at the bushings which connect the shifter to the cables. before you buy a shift cable kit take a look at a saturn shifter bushing repair kit at a parts store or on ebay, this is a very common problem on saturn S's 91-02 and often can be fixed with the 20 dollar repair kit. look on youtube for instructions on pulling the console, there are only 4 screws, and the boots to deal with.

When shifting from second to thrid it has a skipping or bucking.drop transmission pan,no metal or shavings in pan

You should have the computer scanned at a transmission shop or a dealership. If you get a code P1811, that is the 'max adapt long shift' code. That means that the Electronic Pressure Control solenoid may be going bad. Normal wear and tear on the clutch material can also cause this code. Basically, it means that the transaxle is taking longer than 0.65 seconds to shift, and the computer commands maximum line pressure to avoid burning out the clutches. I have had good success with installing a shift kit on several of these transaxles (4T65e) to remedy this problem with no further issues. Visit www.transgo.com and look for distributors in your area. The shift kit you need is the SK 4T65e shift kit. The kit comes with very good instructions. It is not a difficult job. If you can drop the pan and change your own fluid, you can install this kit.

Trans proublem

THE SHIFT SOLENOID NEEDS TO BE REPLACED EITHER INSIDE THE BOTTOM OF THE TRANSMISSION OR ON THE SIDE OF THE TRANS. I WOULD ALSO REPLACE THE TRANS FILTER WHILE THE PAN IS REMOVED. A TRANS FILTER KIT IS AVAILABLE AT MOST AUTO PARTS STORES WHICH INCLUDES A PAN GASKET. YOU WILL NEED ALMOST A GALLON(4 QTS.) OF TRANS FLUID TO FILL IT AFTER DROPPING THE PAN. HOPE THIS HELPS. BEST OF LUCK. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED.

Can't get low gear

if memmory serves me correct its been a while since last tranny rebuild and adjustment
on a 700-r4 type transmission
make sure that the shim kit was used properly with this transmission cause wrong sized length of linkage can make the trans. shift improperly
you have the linkage under neith adjusted wrong the shift bar on tranny should face 90 degrees up towards front of vehicle engine for proper adjustment
