Question about Dodge Pickup

Major relay out witch affects fuel control for cummins engine and leveling jacks, steps, back up camera, can not find relay or circut breaker that controls all of this on 1996 dolphin diesel motorhome

The relays are all under the hood in a black plastic relay/fuse box,and if you can still no longer find this relay,check out a chiltons auto/truck manual at the library and it will tell you where it is

Level Control Compressor Relay Malfunction .
You start by doing the diagnostic tests for that code .
Circuit Description
The automatic level control adjusts the vehicle suspension ride height. The RIM determines the height of the vehicle based on the voltage from the automatic level control sensor. The RIM grounds the compressor relay and the exhaust control solenoid to raise and lower the vehicle in order to keep the vehicle level.

Diagnostic Aids
• Inspect all wiring harnesses carefully for chaffs and proper routing. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
• This circuit is monitored before every functional operation of the compressor relay output. If a compressor relay fault is detected, the RIM retries the output every 15 seconds to try to recover from the fault.

Your probably not going to be able to do the factory diagnostics unless you have a factory scan tool to turn on an off the relay . You can test with a volt meter at the relay for B+ voltage and control from the RIM - Rear Integration Body Control Module. Do you know what a relay is and how it works ?

Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With a scan tool, command the level control compressor relay ON and OFF.
Does the level control compressor relay turn ON and OFF with each command?

YES Go to Diagnostic Aids
NO Go to Step 3

Turn OFF the ignition.
Disconnect the level control compressor relay .
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Probe the coil side feed circuit of the level control compressor relay with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.
Does the test lamp illuminate?

YES Go to Step 4
NO Go to Step 10

Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the level control relay and the coil side feed circuit of the level control compressor relay.
With a scan tool, command the level control compressor relay ON and OFF .
Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

YES Go to Step 8

Does the test lamp remain illuminated with each command?

Not sure I am following your story, but here goes.
The fuel pump relay gets power from a fuseable link at the starter solenoid and from the EEC relay. When the fuel pump is grounded by the computer it sends power to the inertia switch then to the pumps and controls.
If you are not getting main power to the relay the fuseable link (yellow wire) is fried. If the pump relay is not engaging, the EEC relay could be toast (red wire). If you are getting power out of the relay but not to the pumps, the inertia switch may be tripped.

Fuel pump not working


The fuel pump is powered by a relay and a fuse. No circuit breakers.
The relay and fuse should be in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

Have 1989 toyota 4 runner with v 6 engine the only way it will get enough power to the fuel pump to run truck is to take the relays out and put them back then the truck will run until you get where you are...


the pump relay is controlled by the fuel pressure regulator
it cuts power to the relay when fuel pressure is maintained
check ti for correct operation

It's a code that signify's you have a voltage circuit problem with one or more fuel injectors. When a problem is found with the fuel injector circuit it affects fuel delivery on all the injectors and that is why it is running rough.

The fuel heater is connected with the fuel pump, if it does not work, the fuel pump won't pump. Manifold heater has separate relays, fuse, and selenoids which are under the driver battery. If you have been working on it a lot make sure the battery is charged up.

Hi, this will help you achieve your goal.


Step 1

Park the vehicle in a safe place and make sure there is enough room around the back of the vehicle for you to work and move tools around.

Step 2

Start the engine and let it idle while you relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse or relay from the fuse box. Wait a few seconds for the engine to stall, turn the ignition key off and replace the relay or fuse.

Step 3

Raise the back of your car using a floor jack and support it safely on jack stands.

Step 4

Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe and the fuel pump connector located above the cross member underneath the vehicle.

Step 5

Disconnect the vapor tube from the tee connector on the right side of the car-passenger side-and the vapor line from the canister tube.

Step 6

Support the fuel tank with a jack and remove the nuts from the holding strap using a wrench or ratchet and socket. Move the strap away and lower the fuel tank. Discard the fuel tank mounting studs.

Step 7

Unplug the pressure transducer electrical connector located on the top rear corner of the fuel tank.

Step 8

Clean the area around the fuel pump mounting flange and remove the flange mounting bolts in a crisscross pattern.

Step 9

Lift the fuel pump assembly off the tank. Replace the new fuel pump in the assembly and install the assembly in the tank. Install the flange screws and torque to 89 inch lbs. (10Nm) using a crisscross pattern.

Step 10

Raise the fuel tank to its mounting position, install the strap using new mounting studs and torque the nuts to 26 foot lbs. (35 Nm).

Step 11

Connect the fuel pressure transducer electrical connector, vapor tube to the tee connector, vapor line to the canister tube, fuel tank filler pipe and fuel pump electrical connector.

Step 12

Lower the vehicle, start the engine and check for leaks.

relays are normally in the fuse panel on the left side of dash by knee.
