99 lincoln navigator column shift stuck in park how do i release shifter?

It is possible that your brake light switch (which also lets the ecm know that you are pressing on the brake) is faulty. I would scan the ecm for a brake switch related fault code. Any malfunction in this switch would keep the gear selector locked in park.

After starting transmission won't move out of park

It sounds like if this is a car with the brake interlock, meaning the car will not shift from park unless the brake is pressed, there is a malfunction there, some are electronic and it may not be getting power to it especially if there are other warning lights on the dash. It would help if you could give more details, like which lights are on. Most cars with a mechanical interlock will have a cable you can adjust either at the brake cable or at the shifter.

Why won't floor shift come out of park?

It would help if you told us the make, model, and year. Without that, it's usually something to do with the solenoid that allows you to take it out of park when you press the brake. Check the voltage to that when you press the brake down. For now you should be able to override it manually.

What possible cause the parking brake light remains lit after starting the engine?

Parking brake still on or a malfunctioning switch. You sure it's the parking brake light and not the "blown brake line light"?

My '97 grand prix wont shift from park. What is

Hi, you have a malfunctioning brake/park interlock. When you go to shift out of park, as you know, you have to hit the brake or the shifter won't jump out of Park into Reverse. The interlock device that in this system is probably failing.

The abs light is permanently on for past 6 months, though brakes working fine.about a month ago, brake fluid has slow leak and pperiodically red brake light appears but disappears as soon as you...

the red brake light tells you you are low on fluid or that your parking brake is engaged....the abs light tells you your anti lock braking system is malfunctioning. get the car up to 40mph and SLAM on the brake pedal. the pedal should pulsate and the wheels should as well. if the wheels lock up and you slide to a stop, your antilockbrake system is malfunctioning and you should have a certified mechanic check it plus and midas both do free brake inspections.......

Rear wheels lock up after parking for a period of time.

The brake calipers are not releasing correctly, is caused by pressure problems, i.e. caliper leaking, or line pinched. This can also be caused by a malfunction of the parking brake cable, i.e. a kink in the line, or physically frozen parts, etc. Service the rear brakes.

I suspect the mechanism that prevents shifting from Park until the brake is depressed has malfunctioned.
