Hi, Besides the usual tune up, check for vacuum leaks, broken hoses, etc.
Listen around with a piece of tubing, for sucking sounds.
Check the EGR by disconnecting it and seeing that is stays cool when reving. Then connect it and see that it heats up when reved.
Pinch the PVC and purge valve tubing, one at a time, to see if they are leaking all the time. If so, the engine will run better when pinched.
Clean out the air mass sensor.
Check other sensors like temp and O2, with ohmmeter. Bad ones are usually 0 or infinite resistance.

Take care

Crank shaft sensor or air mass meter, is this a v6? I had the 2,6 a4 same fault same miles funny enough. changed the air mass meter is was ok after that. thing is they have so many sensors, you need to get it on a diagnostic machine to be sure.

Sounds like your TCC (torque converter clutch) solenoid is causing improper lockup, causing the engine to stall. It works similar to putting your hand on a ceiling fan to stop the blades. I believe this is where you will find your problem.

Good Luck!

00 Audi A4 stalls

check all air intake pipes, for vacuum leaks, even the small ones and the hidden ones. try spraying brake cleaner spray around the engine when its running. if the revs pick up you have found your leak. also check the throttle body butterfly. clean it !!! after that coolant temp sensor.....
