Question about 1996 BMW 318

I wanna make sure a mechanic isn't trying to get me. On a 1996 BMW 318i US specs. Do you really need to drop the whole left axel to replace the the ABS sensor on the rear drivers side. Thank you.

Yes to make access easier, It would be near impossible to do it without dropping/removing the left axle ..

have you measured the voltage @ the fuel pump or are assuming it has no power because it's not turning on? with that age of vehicle it could be corrosion of the electrical connectors. You really need to measure the voltage at the fuel pump to ensure no power is getting to it. If it has power, then likely the fuel pump sender unit (replace entire mechanism), if no power, then likely corrosion of the connectors.

The Started wire, Is generally referred to as a Hot wire that goes to the Positive (+) terminal of your starter solenoid.

Unless you have clear knowledge of the task your trying to accomplish, I'd advise taking it to a mechanic, or buying a Haynes Manual.

1994 BMW 318i Fuse Box layout


the fuses u are looking for are as follows:
From the top left first row its# 4
then the bottom row its # 19
I also wanted to point out. from 1989 to 1996 the brake switch was the common failure for bmw's
the series it included were 318i, 525-540i, and all 7 series. if the fuses dont fix it.. its the switch
located under a panel u need remove on the drivers side on the steering collum
