Hello John, have you checked the manual headlight over-ride switch. This may be the source of your problem. Make sure it is pushed all the way in. It is located under the dash near the steering column.

Brake hoses are deteriorated on the inside and swelled shut. Unlikely you have 4 bad calipers.

Are you looking for a wiring diagram or a head light switch with a vacuum diaphragm to operate the light covers or to bring up your lights when you turn them on,like a corvette,if like a corvette,I had a 1971 corvette that didn't open and I used the vacuum parts on the light switch off of a 1968 Pontiac GTO,the light switch was the same as the corvette

CORVETT POP UP LIGHTS Hi I have a 1977 corvett stingray. Do you have any ideas as to get the vacume system on the pop up lights to work correctly. They sometimes will go up, 1 at a time but very

The first thing , this system works on vacuum there are vacuum lines that run from intake to storage can or cans then to light switch inside car then back out to headlights,

i would first start by starting the car and listen for vacuum leaks, you may want to follow the vacuum line form the motor checking for splits or cracks in the lines, listen around can, this can sometimes rusts and leaks vacuum, this can or cans are intended to store vacuum and use it when needed, if they are leaking then the lights will work slow until there is enough vacuum to open them, this goes the same for a bad vacuum line and light switch, the light switch is a two part switch, one part supplies power to lights and the other part is vacuum to open lights.

you will need to listen for a vacuum leak inside the car at the switch, (headlight switch) .

Make sure all lines are good and have no leaks, you will need to make sure the hinges to lights are free and not binding up.

My head lights will not flip up, the left one comes up but the drivers light stays down?

Most likely a bad headlight retractor motor assembly, Open hood and check at connector under hinge assembly.

1978 corvette when i shut the car off my head lights pop up. i can start the car and they go down and stay down. got any ideas

Those are vacuum actuated headlights and the vacuum leaks down when the engine is off. Probably have a leak in the headlight actuators, will need to replace or rebuild one or both of them, not a big problem for them to pop up some people just do not like for them to pop up while parked.

Ihave a 1976 corvette stingray when i BOUGHT IT IT DID NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL POP UP LIGHT i have since purchased a pair and fitted them in I cannot wiork out the vaccum lines do I have to have the by pass...

The vacuume line starts at the carburetor. From there it splits into two lines: one for the operating system and another for the control system. It is in the control system that you will need to have the override switch you referred to. Once you run new lines, you will need to make sure your two regulators and two actuator motors are functional. If you have everything run correctly, and there is vacuum in your canister and the headlights still will not pop up, then most likely you have a faulty regulator or actuator motor. Go to www.ecklers.com then search "headlight guide" that will show a manual on how to run all the vacuum hoses and other tips on installation. A vacuum guage is handy to have to test for vacuum leaks at different areas of the line.
