You are not familiar with refrigerant systems.
Take the vehicle to someone trained to work on A/C.
You need to repair leaks first, then pull a vacuum on system and check to see if it holds.
Then you recharge to correct weight or oz.
After that, diagnose any other auto A/C System issues.
Anyone not trained, will only pollute the atmosphere with refrigerant.

Does the compressor kick in when you turn it on?(if not it could be the a/c switch or the power to it, the a/c clutch wire connection, the clutch itself, or it's low on freon) You should hear the clutch kick in when you turn the a/c on. Low freon will also cause the clutch to not kick in. Remove the low-pressure switch plug and jump it with a piece of electrical wire. If the clutch kicks in, you just need to add some freon. Put the plug back where it was after you remove the jumper wire.
Is the belt on and adjusted to the right tension? If the belt is loose it won't cool as good as it should.
Check the freon in the system with a gage. If it's low, add some to the right amount and see if it cools. If it is overcharged, it will blow hot air, too.
The heater control valve slider should be all the way to the left so hot water isn't allowed to circulate through the heater core which would also make it blow hot air out the a/c ducts.
Good luck, they can be a pain, but with careful, step by step troubleshooting it can be fixed. There is plenty of information about a/c online to help you out. Try googling in: auto ac troubleshooting tips for more info. garcuda

Ac clutch not kicking on

ADD Freon. It's a R134 system and the pressure is too low. Trust me add Freon and it will work fine. With a low amount of Freon if you jump the low pressure switch at the accumulator it will be very cold but will not have enough pressure to kick on the low pressure switch.

Freon was low, the clutch would not stay in very long while trying to add the freon, I continued to put the freon in at a slow pace, after about 18 oz. the clutch did kick in and stayed in through out the...

Sounds like the freon was pretty low.The pressure readings are pretty low indicating possibly a weak compressor or freon is still low. Does this have rear ac as well?l You probably should have evacutated the system and put it into a vacuum. A very useful tool would be to inject a uv dye oil charge into the system and let it run with the ac still cycling which can still be done prior to evacuation. If there any leaks present the dye will seep out the leak and be easily detectable with a uv light.

My 99 s10 blazer has ac problems. i tried to fill the refrigerant and the psi bounces between 55 and 20, it starts at 20 the builds to 55, then the clutch kicks on and the psi drops back dowm to 20. this...

I'm assuming that's the high side pressure reading. It sounds like you don't have enough refrigerant in there still. Depending on outside temperature the high should be around 130-150 and the low side between 25 - 30 or so with the compressor clutch engaged. Once you connect the can to the low side you'll have to start the car and turn the a/c on to get more in there until the pressure readings are correct.

My a/c is not blowing cold air. The compressor does not kick on when I turn the a/c on. I have tried adding freon to it but it does not allow any freon to enter the system. I have checked all the fuses and...

The compressor probably isn't kicking on beacuse it is low on freon. It won't take freon when you try because the compressor needs to be running to draw it in. Sounds like a catch 22 doesn't it? There is a low pressure switch either in the filter/drier, or on the low pressure line. If you unplug the switch and hook a jumper between the two pins, the compressor should kick on, allowing you to add freon. Hope this helps...

A/C not working, not sure how to check freon. Can you help me?

first did it work last season ? if so its probably low on freon.. start by putting a can in and see if the compressor kicks on .. The compressor will not kick in if the system is low on freon..your system has a pressure switch on it which tells the comprressor when to turn on .. Remember always instal the freon in the low pressure side of the system .. This is always the LARGER hose is where you put it .. the small hose is hi pressure so stay away from it.. you can do this its really not hard..usually walmart handles what you need for this job.. and holler if you need more.. Trailblazer A/C clutch blows hot !

If it is cycling then its low on freon .. Try to put in one can and this will take care of your problem.. The cycling is due to being low .. The clutch is operated by a pressure switch .. when the clutch kicks in it pressures up but not enough freon will kick it back off and starts over again ... Thanks Jerry
