If you would like a keyless remote,I am not sure if you need an unlock activator just for the main lock,or for all 2/4 locks.I would consult with the dealer to find out exactly what you need and parts prices/necessary parts and see what you can find that they recommend for parts at other parts stores,or even consider a used one depending on price/your budget.Someone else on here may probably knows better than I do but,a GMC technician will know best what to do.If you call, they should tell you all of that because they will figure you will bring it there. If you have the know how though, you obviously will save big $$$.Good luck!

There is a dianostic connector just below to you feet. Take a paperclip and use as a jumper between the 4 and 8 pin. You will here the door locks. Take your new or used remote and hold both buttons together for around 15 seconds until you here the doors unlock. Before you pull that paperclip, do the same thing for all remotes to be programmed before you pull it out.

Best course of action would be to take it to an alarm installation shop there they will do it in a short time for minimal money and it will be done right.

Preferably have it done by the same alarm company that does your dealers alarm installations that way you can't miss!!

How to get my 1997 sierra gmc pickup to shift out of park

Problem could be the brake switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
You may be able to turn the key switch past lock but not on, and then take the shifter out of park. The lock solenoid would need to be tested.

Truck sticks in park when trying to go into drive or any other gear. it wont move the shifter, on an automatic gmc sierra 1997

Replace the shift lock solenoid whichis located by the shifter inside the truck. It keeps the shifter locked in place until you press the brake pedal to shift

Power door locks don't work, remote lock doesn't work. fuse good

If all the fuses are good, try replacing the wiring. It may just be a short some where in the wires. Its not an expensive job to do. you can pick up some good wiring at any local hardware store.

How to remove an ignition on a 1997 gmc sierra but without a key

The lock pin that's keeping you from removing the switch normally won't push up but some do, try that first. Next is to drill out the core of the lock cylinder without going past the edges of what's being replaced. You'll need some needle nose pliers to pull out the internal parts once you drill a large enough hole & you'll be able to turn the cylinder to where the pin will release & let you extract the remaing part.

good luck

Our 1997 GMC Sierra locks rear wheels suddenly

More likely to be a rear end issue. If the brakes have been checked I would have your rear end checked. Could turn into a very dangerous situation.

1997 GMC 4x4 Excessive steering problem major play (3 inches)

You best get under the truck and grab hold of the drag link, idler arm , and tyrod ends and find out whats loose. I would say its either pitmen arm or idler arm. Also chk.ball joints. If you find nothing wrong there the only thing left is the steering gear box.
