The van will not crank. We suspect there may be an automatic cutoff on the electric fuel pump.

If the fuel pump has a cutoff the engine will still crank do you mean it wont start but cranks over ? check for spark at plugs if so get yourself a fuel pressure gauge at auto parts store there is a schrader valve on the fuel rail with a black plastic cap screw on the fuel gauge cycle the key on and off slowly and see if you have fuel pressure you could also listen in the filler neck for the pump whine when you cycle the key it should turn on for a few seconds then turn off most likely the pump is bad its 12 years old and probably about 100,000 miles and always change the fuel pump, filters and the relay at the same time

Where do I find the fuel cutoff switch in my 1991 Caprice Classic?

There isn't one. I don't know what testing you have done? Did you check fuel pump connector for voltage and ground? Gray wire should be voltage, black wire is ground, check with engine cranking. If good voltage and ground with no pump action, suspect the pump. Could be other issues? Any applicable trouble codes?

2000 Ford E350 Econoline. Are you saying that the only way to get current to the fuel pump is by cranking the engine??? Checked all relays and even tried to hot wire the fuel pump with no success.

Two ways for currrent to get to fuel pump , when you first turn the key on the PCM - engine computer will energize the relay turning on the fuel pump for a two second prime . Then it won't energize till you crank the engine over . Provided the PCM see's a signal from the crank sensor . Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation

Where is the fuel shut off switch located 95 formula 5.7 L automatic cranks over but won't start

There is no such switch, that is Ford and Mazda. It is called the Inertia fuel pump cutoff switch, and only trips when the vehicle is hit in the rear with more than 3 times the force of gravity.

2002 lincoln ls fuel pump electrical cutoff switch

The inertia switch should be in the trunk behind the trim panels.
You may need a pump relay.

Won't start

check for fuel cutoff switch reset button. these are designed to shut off fuel in case of accident but they will some times be activated on blowout or even when you hit a pothole or speed bump. your local parts house can tell you its exact location, should be in rear window washer compartment or glovebox.

check manual for"Fuel Automatic Cutoff Switch" - sometimes a hard bang- such as a pothole can trip it- if not this- possibly fuel pump

have someone listen to your gas tank while turning the key from off to run. if theres no sound, goto the rear passenger side fender cover and remove (inside the van) theres a little red button down in the rear corner. check to make sure its pushed in (inersia switch for fuel cutoff). also check fuses. if you hear the pump check, the fuel filter.

1996 jeep cherokee shuts off with no warning signs cranks back up and may not do it again for days.always happens when cold. replaced crank sensor; distributor; coil; plugs and wires.need help

Suspect fuel pressure. You could install a fuel pressure guage. There is always a fuel pump cutoff safety switch. It is either in oil pressure switch or alternator connection. But have you changed the fuel filter?
