Question about 1994 Suzuki Sidekick

1 Answer

My 1994 suzuki sidekick is having issues starting. if i try to start it up after a period of rest it usually will click a few times before it fires up. if i drive somewhere to run in and try to start it again it usually wont start at all (with no noise whatsoever). lights and horn work, and after waiting a few minutes usually it will start to turn over. might be an issue with using 93 octane gas as i have been using it for the last couple fills and this is a recent development. any ideas?

No its not the fuel, try charging up the battery.if the battery does not take a charge then replace make sure the post are clean.if this does not work it maybe the starter solenoid or the ignition switch.

How do you test a 1994 Suzuki Sidekick fuel pump & where is the gas filter located?

Have you checked your fuses? It sounds like an ignition control module possibly. Start with the easy stuff before ya get crazy with the fuel pump. You can pull the fuel line off the throttle body and have someone try to start it to see if it's pumping. It's pressurised though and it will push a ton of gas through it really quick so be careful.

SUzuki won't run, what to check

It could be a timing belt issue. You can remove the cover on the front of the engine and look for broken teeth on the belt. You could also position the crank to Top Dead Center (TDC) and remove the #1 spark plug and check if the piston is all the way at the top of the cylinder. By moving the crankshaft GENTLY with a socket, you should be able to see the piston go down. Try placing a 1/4" extension in the spark plug hole if you cannot see the piston directly. Then, watch the extension move.

1994 Suzuki Sidekick no power

Hard to say. Could be anything from a cylinder miss-fire to dirty injectors to transmission problems.
Is the check engine light on ?
Does it feel like it is starting out in low gear ?
Have you had the truck serviced lately ?

Spark at the plugs and is getting fuel, but won't fire or start

Do the injectors "pulse" and deliver fuel to the cylinders? Spray starting fluid into the air intake and see if it starts, if it does you have found the source of the problem.

1994 Suzuki Sidekick spark plug cover blown out.

Oh, ok. No, they shouldn't be related. The plug cover meaning the spark plug wire boot that goes over the spark plug hole? Why won't it stay in? Is the spark plug missing? Those plug wires snap onto the spaek plug holding the wire on the plug.. There should be a spark plug in the hole. If not, you probably had it blown out. That happens once in a blue moon. If the plug is missing, get a new one and carefully install it by hand, no rachet. If the plug won't start in the hole the first few threads mat be strippe. Do not cross-thread the new plug. Spark plug hole taps are available at parts stores. good luck

Thanks for your reply. It turned out that the fuel pump quit at the same time as the diagnostic test so I'm back on track now. Should be running by tomorrow. Thanks again.
