I have a 2004 tahoe it wont start my ignition key wont turn front nor back they broke in to it and wont start any more

Could be the ignition switch was damaged in failed attempt to possibly steal the car. U might just have to replace that switch.

I'm stranded on the interstate and I need a new ignition switch, how can I get it cranked with the switch out to get me to the nearest auto parts store, its a 2003 Tahoe

People get the ignition switch confused with the key tumbler. If your key is not turning, it would be the tumbler. The actual switch is either built inthe column or on top of the column just under the dash. If your key is turning to the on position you could jimmy the starter at the S and I terminal and make the starter crank up, but if you ignition switch is bad it might not be switching to the on position. I hope you get it properly diagnosed by a qualified individual and not a guessing individual. There so many other things that need to be checked to eliminate guess work.

My 2003 chevy tahoe wont start the security light is on a friend said it probly the pass key but i bought the car used and there is no resistor on my key it has worked fine for a year now it wont start and...

You dont see a resister because around the year 2000 they switched it up a little bit. The key now has a hidden transponder embedded in the keys head. This sends a constant signal to the ignition. The ignition then sends this signal to the Theft Deterrrent Module. The theft deterrent module is what allows the starter to start, or the fuel injectors to work. The hard part is finding which part has failed. Go to this link for info, pics, and a detailed explanation of how this works along with some DO IT YOURSELF solutions.

I have towed several of these with same problem. Sounds like to me it needs to go back in for the ignition switch again. Unless it's not going into park. If it's not going into park it would be a shift linkage issue and needs to be adjusted. Chris J.C. Towing & Recovery

Change starter on 2002 tahoe now motor wont start

If you had battery unhooked and assuming that it is turning over try this Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. This relearns your key to the ignition it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys

Have 2003 chevy tahoe the security light flahs wont start

Your Passlock may need to relearn the ignition keys, if the ignition lock has gone bad like my in-laws Grand Am Gt, here is what i did so they will not get stranded any more. Buy a Passlock by pass module for around $70.00. You can orderone from GMPASSLOCK.COM in the mean time try resetting the Passlock. Good luck

Ignition keys relearn takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself.

2003 tahoe won't start - has lights

If he had it started two times without the key , i would think it was the starter either . Do you an the guy who replace the ignition switch know how the starting system on your tahoe works ? Do you know what a neutral safety switch is ? Try moving the gear shifter to neutral an see if it starts then . That is if your tahoe has a automatic transmission . When you turn the key to the start position this sends a voltage signal to the PCM - engine computer which inturn will energize the starter relay , closing the contacts sending B+ voltage to the starter solenoid , spinning the engine over . Using a factory scan tool you would be able to see if that start signal from the ignition switch is making it to the PCM . Also would be able to energize the starter relay with the scan tool to see if the computer can energize the starter relay . You could also do testing with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter . Find the PCM an connector 2 pin #59 , this is the circuit for start from ignition switch . Have someone turn the key to start , is there B+ voltage ? Find the starter relay in the under hood fuse box, pull it out an look on the bottom . You will see four sets of numbers 30 , 87 , 86 , 85 . If you take a piece of wire an jump 30 an 87 in the fuse box the starter will crank the engine , or spin the engine . If you do that and it won't start , cables , connections or the starter is the problem .

Key ignition

Steering wheel lock.
Turn the steering away from lock position, hold the steering wheel then turn the key .

No, it will not turn an inch, but slightly to relief the pressure off the key ignition housing, or wiggling it while turning the key.
