How many quarts of trans fluid does a 2000 ford explorer v6 need

Did you check your trans dip stick? The tranny dip stick usually has a quart low mark. If this is a manual tranny, that is different, you didn't specify automatic or manual tranny?
{Automatic tranny, the spec is for dry fill, only. 10--12.7 quarts . Dry fill means not a drop of tranny fluid in the vehicle.}
You have to check proper fluid level, that is your responsibility. Your owners manual may have some of this info?

1999 f350 trans will not shift

Manual or Automatic? Check Tracy fluid level if automatic, and check where the shifter connects to your tranny to make sure connection idles free and working, and not seized up. If you have a manual tranny, check your clutch and all associated fluids.
wost case scenario, you need to either rebuild your tranny, or buy one at the junkyard for cheap.

Would start by checking linkage or the cable that runs to tranny. Tranny fluid level is correct? Check fluid level first. Run 15-20 mins and check with motor warmed and running

Automatic Transmission Fluid Level

Some cars, and some Toyotas don't have dipsticks, they have plugs on the right side of the tranny, the lower one is the level, some get checked while running, some don't. If the fluid seeps out, it is full, if it doesn't, you take off the top plug and fill till the fluid comes out the bottom hole. If you can't find it in your manual, check out Toyota.com, or Toyotanation, they have forums for your vehicle. Toyota is pretty good about their trannys, they don't even recommend changing the fluid, and the gears are tumbled for de-burring when new, no filings in the fluid. check it out.

mcdevito75 here, Check the tranny fluid, when the car is warmed up pull the tranny dip stick wipe it off and repeat, fill the tranny to level with tranny fluid only. Also check for a broken linkage or cable to the tranny from thru the firewall.

Hey guys: My 91 MPV sat for 6 weeks recently...Before I parked it, it was running fine...Yesterday when I put it back on the road the tranny was making a whirring sound but was working fine....I drove for...

Hello. Sorry to hear you are having this trouble. From what I hear it sounds like your automatic transaxle may be low on fluid, or the fluid has been getting too old and overheated (as any will over time). Please look for signs of any tranny fluid leaks on the ground and under the van. If it does you will need to fix the leak, and/or keep up with fluid loss all the time until you do.

Please check your automatic transaxle (tranny) fluid level with the dipstick under the hood. See if the fluid looks pink and clean. If the fluid or dipstick is dark or brown looking at all, it needs replaced. Get the fluid professionally flushed and changed. This step alone may fix your van as long as the fluid is not leaking, and too much old fluid use (hopefully) has not already damaged the tranny.

Where do you fill the automatic transmission?

If you have a tranny dipstick, then you would need a long tranny type funnel and fill there.
If you do not have a dip stick, then you would have to raise the vehicle, and look at the tranny. There will be a higher and a lower plug on it. Remove the higher plug and stick your finger in the hole. If you feel fluid, then it is full.

How do u fill the tranny differential on a 1996 toyota corolla?

It depends on if have you have a 3 speed automatic, 4 speed automatic, or a manual transmission.

The 4 speed and manual tranny share their fluid with the differential so if you fill the tranny you fill the differential at the same time.

The 3 speed differential does not share its fluid with the tranny. To fill or check the fluid on the 3 speed automatic you will need to get underneath the car. The fill bolt faces the firewall side of the transmission. It is about 4 inches above the differential drain plug. You will need a fluid pump and hose to get the fluid into the fill hole. The fluid you will need is Dexron tranny fluid.
