Wont start the starter is working yet it won crank what can I do

Did you check power an grounds using voltage drop testing , did you check battery voltage an computer control at the starter motor relay in the under hood fuse / relay box ? Instead of guessing you need to learn how to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an test ! The powertrain control module controls the starter motor operation ! Starter Voltage Drop VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis ,If you pull the relay an jump pin's 30 & 87 the starter should crank ,test the circuit starter motor side ! Pins 85 & 86 are the control side ., Pin 85 or 86 forget which one has battery voltage with the key on . The one with out voltage is control from the engine computer ! Also if the anti theft system is active it wont start !

Where is fusiable link in a 2001 jeep grand cherokee

4.0L or 4.7L engine> the park switches are different.

you pulled a starter with out removing battery neg lug?
is that it?
your post makes it hard to see what the story is.
you replaced starter because car would not CRANK
or
you replaced starter, and shorted out the big cable and boom
and now all things are dead. what?
ill assume car would not crank one day
and you gue$$ a bunch of parts and guessed wrong,
guessing is very expensive.
------------------------------Testing wins--------------------------------------
so no crank 101, posted 100 times. ILL ASSUME it's a A/T tranny.
(im ignoring new parts, i never assume anything works i test it)

  1. check all fuses in all boxes. using a voltmeter. 12vdc both sides key on and battery cables lugs area all clean and tight x4 ends.
  2. you check battery volts its 12.6vdc rested, good.
  3. you crank, and the solenoid just clicks. or only the starter relay only clicks, (more later on that)
  4. you see that battery voltage never drops below 11v and crank time. (11v is typ, tad less if in Alaska, or bad battery or not charged fully)
  5. You then jumper cable crank car, off a running donor car ,just like Mr. AAA tow does.... same to a fault. (google how) (hinting your battery is good, I have a battery load tester so can check)
  6. if this cranks ok, the battery is bad. (happens or is discharged)
  7. car still will not jumper crank.
  8. we next hot wire the starter small wire to big lug. keys in pocket. Called hot wiring a starter solenoid.
  9. engine does not crank, starter bad. or may be battery cables.
  10. engine does crank nice , my keys are in pocket ,see?
  11. ok starter is good, at test 10. so we now know its ok. easy huh>
  12. now we know the key line is bad. 1 wire. end to end. easy.
  13. you try to start in neutral, omg it starts. bad PRNDL switch.
  14. or its bad starter relay.

now we show how it cranks. good starter and battery (& cables)
keyon,
put shifter in to park then neutral and crank.? fails both?

the starter relay must close cranked, if not, bad park switch or bad relay
in this moment (cranking) there must be 12vdc across the 2 relay coil pins.
pin 85 and 86 with volt meter, if 0v, the PRNDL switch is bad.
or on 4.7L the TRS switch.
if the relay closes, then jb fuse f31 is ok and pdc f8 must be good.
and you then turn key to crank. and relay pin 87 goes to 11v to 12v.
this then is a single wire that goes directly to the starter solenoid
tiny wire , it goes to 12v and starter cranks, 11v what you see here
unless in alaska , less. (10v ?)

see red arrow what is voltage there cranking?
we can go fast , if you just do that.

25513501-qtmfudt4eg5vdkejwfy5ompz-5-0.jpg the transmission switch grounds the lower coil, here.
if not the starter will be dead forever.
both fuses must be good, or same.
12vdc arrives at top left fuse, and is hot only cranking.
if the right fuse, glows above the relay can not send power to the starter solenoid.

I have a 2004 Chevy trailblazer no start no crank but if I put key on hot wire the starter it will start I replace new ignition switch and new starter relay b

Before you do any thing check for loose or bad connections. Also check you ground connection to engine. Check Fuses, relay and for a Fusible Link open circuit. Now let me explain what a Fusible Link does. They are short lengths of small gauge wire installed between the Battery and the Ignition Switch, or the Battery and the Fuse Panel. They'll melt and open the circuit before damage occurs in the rest of the circuit. I hope this was helpful you.

Be sure the AIR BAG/VATS fuse 10 amp, is good. there is a STARTER ENABLE RELAY up high on the left of the steering column. I ASSUME the anti theft light is not flashing?" at the STARTER ENABLE RELAY the YELLOW wire is hot in the crank mode and comes out large PURPLE to the starter. the small purple wire is hot in the crank mode if the fuse (air bag/vats) is good. the small yellow is grounded through the park switch and the VATS module (anti theft)

What is the crank fues fore and why

The 10 amp crank fuse is for the starter enable relay and is part of the starter interrupt relay control circuit for the theft deterrent system. The 60 amp "crank" or "starter" maxi-fuse (if equipped) is an over-load/short circuit protection fuse before the ignition switch. Here is a diagram for a typical GM crank fuse circuit to help assist you.

No , probably not . Do you know what a starter relay is ? It's located in the under hood fuse box ! That 30amp fuse sends B+ voltage an current to pin #30 , if you find an pull out the relay an look on the bottom you will see 4 sets of numbers 30 & 87 an 85 &86 . 30 is Battery voltage which when energized the relay will send this B+ voltage through pin 87 to the starter solenoid turning on the starter . You could take a jumper wire an jump those 2 pins an the starter should spin . Now , 85 & 86 are the control side of the relay ,Pin 86 should have B+ voltage supplied by fuse #32 10amp located in the junction block , maybe inside vehicle fuse box . Pin 85 is from the PCM , the PCM will supply a ground to this side of the control circuit if it see's a input from the park neutral safety switch . Do you know what that is ? Try shifting to neutral an see if it starts . Also if jumping pins 30 & 87 the starter doesn't spin . check the Positive battery cable using voltage drop . You may have a bad cable . My husband just needs to know where is the location of the starter relay on our '97 chevy Blazer 4.3 engine, 4x4? Is it near the passenger side or the drivers side?

When you go to start the engine you are actually sending power from the ignition switch through a 20 amp fuse [crank fuse] then through the Park/Nuetral safety start switch and finally to the starter relay [located at the center rear of the engine compartment] This relay then sends a more powerful current flow down to the starter solenoid located on top of the the starter which then closes and allows full battery voltage from the large battery cable to energize and spin the starter. I don't think I've ever had to replace a starter relay on these but have replaced a large number of starters with bad solenoids and bad Park/nuetral switches. The "crank" fuse could also be bad but that is also pretty rare.

Car won't start or crank but all lights are working correctly. it died as I was driving down the street, and now it won't even start or crank

My friend;
Try this;
    1. Check all fuses & relays in the cabin & engine compartment fuses / relays boxes, especially Starter 80AMPs relay in the engine compartment fuses / relays box, And insert same valued fuse i.e. { fuse rated 80APS with same fuse, etc. }.
    2. Check OP'S & voltage of the Alternator = 13.7 V DC - 14.8 V DC MAX.
    3. Check starter motor & or its solenoid & solenoid pinion gear teeth or engine flywheel teeth.
