Question about 2005 Suzuki Reno

Open Question

My check engine light of my 2005 suzuki reno came on a few months ago, i went to get it checked out and the guy said that it had something to do with the mass air flow sensor, i then called the dealership who informed me that my car doesnt have a mass air flow sensor. Just wondering if there is anything i can try before i take it to the dealership, they are really far away???? anything that could be causing the check engine light to be on?

SOURCE: emissons code on a 2005 suzuki reno po496

This code means the engine is getting outside air from somewhere in the system. Most of the time this code is thrown when people forget the gas cap. Or the gas cap has gone bad. on either case take the car to autozone have them clear the code maybe buy a gas cap if you didnt leave ti off and it wont give you any trouble. If the code comes back after the new gas cap then you need a new charcoul filter that mounts tot he top of the gas tank.

SOURCE: Diagnostic codes?

i had similar problems, and got exactly that code.
its ur MAF sensor thats goin bad and will not allow u accelerate above 2500rpm, stalls and lurches and attimes, stalls completely.
well i ordered for a replacement and changed it myself, it didnt take 30mins to have the replacement installed.
what the auto repair men were charging was outrageous.
so, get the part
replace it
reset the "service engine soon" (do this by removing d positive terminal on ur battery for some few mins)
and that should do it.
(i heard u could install the 2001 maxima MAF sensor, its cheaper, still researching to know how true that is though)
cheers

SOURCE: 2005 suzuki reno, how do you reset check engine

leave the battery disconnected for a while, 20 min to make sure it resets the computer. If the light is still on then there in an ongoing fault that is getting tripped and turning on the check engine light. Go to an autozone or local autoparts store, they will check it and erase it for you for free.....OBDII scanners aren't cheap.

Hi I'm anthony I have a 2005 suzuki reno I think it's a grate car so I'd like to beef it up with a bigger motor what engine do u think would be best fitting for low budget rebuild?

I would put a 5.7 litre V8 Shelby Mustang engine into it. It would make it fly! Trouble is there would be nowhere for you to sit! This is a joke right :>) You can't put any other engine into that tiny car other than the one that came with it!

The only thing you can do is buy some performance pats for it, perhaps even go faster vinyl stripes.

Where is the transmission dipstick?? on 2005 reno

It is usually between the engine and the back wall(firewall). It says transmission right on it however some cars are made now where you have to take it to the dealer to get it checked out.If you have the owner's manual, that may help.Good luck! Greg

Steering warning light on 2005 suzuki reno

    Speed Sensitive Power Steering
    (SSPS) Warning Light
If your vehicle has Speed Sensitive Power
Steering (SSPS), this warning light will
come on briefly when you turn the ignition
to ON as a check to show you the bulb is
    working.
Then it should go out after a few seconds.
If the warning light does not come on, have
it fixed so it will be able to warn you if there
    is a problem.
If the warning light stays on, or comes on
while you are driving, the SSPS system
may not be working. If this happens, see
    your SUZUKI dealer for service.
