If possible, the car should be checked when the problem is present. When your car start ans stalls, check for spark at the spark plugs, to isolate trouble in the ignition system. Next, test the fuel pressure to eliminate fuel pump and pump relay problems. I will can tell you that check (replaced if need) the ignition coil; if this occurr, you should replace the ignition module and the crank angle sensor as well.

Tell us news.

On my jeep cherokee 2.5 crd the automatic shutdown relay doesnt stop the fuelpump from working with the key on. i can hear the asd relay clicking after a few seconds, but the pump keeps on working. th

WOW NO YEAR STATED, not that is challenging......!!!!
its the last thing in the world to change out, and most expensive. of all.
why folks do that, i dont know.
the FSM tells you, all inputs to ECU must be good first.
same with all computers on earth, or outputs will be wrong;
input >>> process>>> output.

you never posted the symptoms? why not?
my guess is ASD issues? what is wrong here.?
i guess you dont know what ASD is , its purpose and functions.
8 ways to mess up.

The fuel pump logic is complex.
some work keyon,
some work for 3 seconds, (depends on engine and EFI system options)
lets first say this, most cars have no ASD
they prevent crash and burn by cutting spark and fuel.
and the fuel pump last , in a crash.
enter jeep, they use a silly relay, its not needed but they love it.
my guess is they dont trust ECU logic, ?

So the ASE has the 2-3 second rule. JEEP deal that. 100%
and if you cant get spark good, or the voltages seen in above
link, in 3 seconds, it cuts the ASD,
this relay kills many things, spark and fuel rail 12vdc power feed.
now figure that
bad spark kills spark , funny that , huh>?
but is 100% true.
its a JEEP. on other cars , this never is cut, they cut fuel.

but if the spark read back fails, the ASD is dropped, and that kills spark again and fuel injections (dc rail power)

Btw the ECU logic and programming control all this.
totally. The ASD is just something the ECU controls.

my guess is car is 1996 and newer and you are working
with NO SCAN tool? and failing?
use a scan tool and magic happens, off comes the blinders.
the codes you get will tell you exactly the cause.
of what ever your real unstated symptoms are.

on the newer jeeps failure 8 , a stuck fuel pump relay
can drop ASD.
so..... what year,car.
i can give you the schematic if you state
96-01 is here
click wiring

sadly on jeep books you need to read all ASD pages
to get a full PICTURE.

Its reading cylinder 5misfire not getting alot of gas an motor shakes

Do you work on your own vehicles?

Can you diagnose a cylinder misfire?

Ever use the computer to learn about vehicles
& their systems, guess not or you wouldn't be
here. You would have googled your codes & have
some idea of how to proceed

Do you plan on taking someones advice
& throw parts at the problem?

Have a repair shop diagnose ALL the vehicles problems
one shot & fix them all

Honda CRV won't start

civic CRV? what engine? 2003 CRV?

1: check all fuses in both fuse boxes.
2: check for spark. no spark,? ECU (PGMFI) can never inject (logic)
3: no dizzy means DIS, it has COPS, 4 or 6 coil ,
no need to guess. the tests are easy. why attack a relay>?
got spark? x4 or 6x on V6
try to diagnose and not guess. guessing can not only be expensive
but you add bad parts for good. or cause more damage.

here i will show you a video. watch mr. scotty do it stuff

if the engine is good , this works !!
every time. (cept when fuel pressure is low, and the dribble test FOOLS you, )

My nissan 2.4i hardbody fuel injectors are spraying constantly at the same time, causing the engine to consume a lot of petrol and loose power in the process and produce black smoke on the exhaust. What...

faulty fuel distribution leads to the fuel injector pump assembly , I would guess ? something is bust inside it ,,,,,? loss of power and balck smoke is from poor burn . Check fuel wet spark plugs ?
This is a logical guess

Tune up

Only Spark Plugs--- left over from the old
Tune-Up days, of 25 years ago

Your vehicle obviously has some kind of issue
You need to think about diagnosing those problems
Your long gone tune-up, has nothing to do with that

There isn't anything to guess at, when you say running
on 2 cylinders,as we don't know how you determined that,
& who is doing the testing to resolve things

You provided no engine size or code, driveablity issues, etc

Fuel pump shut off switch

A couple of things to start with. The first is that you have changed your plugs and the fuel filter which are to totally different "departments" you could say in the engine. The plugs are for "spark" and the other is for fuel. It takes two things to start a vehicle gas and spark. It seems by what you are saying or what you have written that you haven't exactly diagnosed the problem first and have started replacing things. I'm not saying anything bad about you or anything but you need to narrow down the problem and then correct it. Find out what you don't have in order for the vehicle to start (fuel or spark) Below is a picture of the port to check for fuel pressure. It's kind of like a valve on a tire. You can either get a fuel pressure tester to connect to it to see if you are or are not geting fuel. If you don't have access to a tester you can carefully "push" in the valve (like you reliesing air out of your tire). See if you are getting fuel up to the fuel rail. If you are not it could be the cut off switch, a fuel pump relay or a few other things. By the way below is another picture of the cut off switch. Where the blue arrow is pointing down is a button you simply push down. If it is "popped" as you push down the button you should hear or feel a click which meant it was popped and needed to be reset. There could be a electrical short causing it to pop so there may be other issues if this is the problem (fuel). If you don't have fuel at the fuel rail, while you are listening by the gas tank, have someone turn the key to just the "on" position (without trying to start it) and when they turn the key you should be able to hear the fuel pump inside the gas tank turn on for about 3 seconds and then shut off. If you don't hear anything it could be a fuel pump or relay as well as a couple of other things. If fuel doesn't seem to be the problem and you seem to be getting fuel, check to make sure you are getting spark to the spark plugs. If you are not then the next step is to find out why there is no spark which could be as simple as a fuse or a number of other things. I guess the point I am trying to get at is to find out what is missing as to why the vehicle is not starting (fuel or spark) then comes diagnosing the reason for the loss either spark or fuel. Once you figure out the loss you can either reply/comment here or email directly at with what you have found out and then we can diagnose what's causing the loss before you start just replacing parts for no reason. I hope I was able to help in some way. By the way just in case the fuel cut off switch for the escort coupe is in the trunk on the right side behind a cover and if it's a sedan or wagon it behind the kick panel on the drivers side.

Pontiac torrent cylinder 3 misfire detected

Hello: check the spark plug wire, the spark plug the injector, do a compression check. Diagnosing the problem without a GM Tech2 or aftermarket upscale scanner is a step by step of elimination and guess work. You also need to check the coil for that cylinder. What size engine?

1999 ford escort wont start not firing no spark.

Check Engine Light on? It could be the "crankshaft position sensor" or the "camshaft position sensor", maybe the coilpack but, if it's the coil pack you should still have spark on two cylinders.
