Your post is 9 days old ,no body touched it because there no car info make model or year , it does make a differance all i know is most kia's have an idle air adjustment valve . it acts like a choke at start up .it could be the sorce of your problem . but not the only one. without a check engine code .kind of quesing

both my kia rio and my spectra started out taking longer to fire up after a few months afetr starting would run ruff for 10 20 secons then run great afetr couple more months woudl not hold an idle for about a minute i would have to keep restarting it and keep pumping the peddal to keep it running . turned out to be the idle air valve. all the air to your engine is controlled by this valve at start up ,and at idle. your second post gives the year 2001 almost 10 years old that valve is full of a black smudge witch is probley hindering the small shutter from opening and closing (it dont close all the way) all the way closed (the choke position )still leaves a small gap i do not have the info for your vehicle so just call the dealership and ask them how much a replacement one and cost .this way you will verifiy that your year has one. if they have not put them into 2001's yet then you would have the old dash pot type carb.

Could be a sensor , but without testing , this would be a guess ! Have seen TPS - throttle position sensors on chysler products do this , Mass air flow sensors on GM vehicles , plus bad IAC - idle air control motor . Don't think you would like to replace all these parts , your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Have it tested !
