GM has done away with a inline fuel filter, the filter/strainer is inside the tank attached to the fuel pump module, the parts store may show a filter but in fact there is not one.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter on a 2004 z71 4x4

Should be on the frame rail on drivers side. In the area of where the driver sits. Follow the two metal lines from the tank to the engine bay and you'll find the filter.

2004 silverado Z71.tech,speedometer,fuel gauge, temp, oil pressure and voltmeter all quit working and security (key fob dont lock/unlock no more).any sugestions

Pull the IP and unplug it, plug it back in. When everything goes at the same time it is usually a bad connection at the plug. Also check ground wires. The can be on the steering column or behind the kick panel to the left. By the E brake. The key FOB is a different area. But can be related to the grounds.

2004 z71 tahoe when the gas gauge is at a quarter of a tank it won't crank. It acts like it is empty with gas.

Check your fuel filter if it needs replacement. Empty it out then connect it back. Try to start it again. Inspect the fuel filter if it filled with gasoline. Check if there is noise at the fuel tank to check if the pump is working. If it did not, inspect the fuse for your fuel pump and the relay. If both are good you may connect the fuel pump directly to the battery to see if it works. It may be a bad wiring.

Blowing black smoke engine light is flashing and then goes off then starts again.2004 Z71 had two co2 sensors replaced. so they say I don;t even know were they are.

Black smoke means way too much fuel or too little air is being pumped into the engine. Make sure the air intake filter is clean and the intake hose is not crushed. The O2 sensors are spark-plug-like devices that are screwed into the exhaust system just in front of the catalytic converters. You could have a stuck-open injector that would pour lots of fuel into one cylinder. Try to get the truck to Autozone or similar business that allows a free scan of the engine computer to see what codes it may show. Hope this helps!

I just replaced my plugs/wires on my 2004 z71, still random miss.

I would lean toward a dirty throttle body first.REcheck and make sure one of the wires is not locked in well om plugs. Ususlly from what I found a coil is going to cause to skip most of the time if it is bad.I would attempt fuel treatment and cleaning throttle body real well.

Where can i find fuel filter on 2004 silverado?

i own a 2004 chevy z71. general motors did not put an external fuel filter on these trucks in 2004. EPA was trying to get them to do things with as few connectons on the fuel system as possible so there wouldn't be as many places to leak!!!! the fuel filter is built into the fuel pump/sender unit. it is all one piece design you cant even see the filter whith the pump removed you have to change the complete pump assy. i recomend using an oem part from you chevy dealer. parts house pumps dont usually last that long. i work at a carquest and we get bad pumps back alot they dont usually last but about 3 months

Need maintenace schedule

Spark plugs at 100,000 (use AC Delco plugs, they work best), check air filter at 15,000 replace at 30,000, replace fuel filter at 30,000, service (fluid and new filter) automatic trans at 60,000, replace hoses and flush cooling system at 100,000 miles, (use long life coolant), check belt at 30,000, replace if any rubber in ribs is missing, cracks are ok per factory bulletin's. oil and filter at least every 5,000 miles, lube chassis every other oil change, more often if u drive short trips, lube the door hinges and hood hinges and all latches every 30,000 miles. If I missed anything you want to know let me know. one last note manual trans and differential change lube only if torn down for repair, otherwise it is lifetime.
