You will have to remove the inner panel for the gate (look at the panel from within the bed) to gain access to the latch mechanism. This can be done with the gate up. From there you will be able to see what the problem is. I suspect that your handle has either come out of adjust or the linkage has worn badly. Usually this is a broken piece such as the handle attachment where the linkage attaches to the handle.

How to replace headlight on left side of 1996 Dodge ram 2500 truck

Relatively easy, there may be a plastic cover on the back of the headlight aseembly. It comes off by releasing clips. The bulb is removed by turning counter clockwise. Then you simply unplug the wiring plug from the bulb, install the new one. Note : Wear gloves when handling new light, as the oils from your hands will cause the new light to not last long.

My 06 dodge ram tailgate will not release. how do i fix it?

Then you must disassemble the tailgate and check the linkages to see what is malfunctioning with the exterrior handle. Sometimes the ears on the handle itself breaks.

1993 4.3L blazer. No tailgate latch mechanism and unable to open. Is there a way to open tailgate?

If you are saying the latch mechanism has been removed then use a coat hanger with a small "U" bent on one end. Insert the hanger into the tailgate (where the latch was) to one side and fish for the rod which normally connects to the latch mechanism. After you find one side retain it with a string or the like and find the rod on the other side. Once you have both pull them both toward the center of the tailgate and the tailgate will open.

Tailgate latch on my 2002 silverado is stuck in closed postion

Remove the molding ring from around the handle. Becareful not to break the taps that lock it in. After removing the molding you should see the handle mechanism. There is a rod coming in from each side (each one runs out the the actual latch). Make sure each rod is connected into the handle assembly. If it is not put the rod into the hole and find the retainer clip to keep it in place.

2002 2500 Silverado tailgate handle will not release catches

You will need to remove the trim piece the is under the release handle. Be carefull those things tend to break the little tabs that hold them on. Anyway pop (pry) it off with a screwdriver. Once it is off you can see that the little clips that hold the rods to the handle assy are broke. These clips are color coded. Most likely yellow or green. You might be able to get them at say Pep Boys or some place like that but they might make you buy an assortment package , then you get clips you will never use. Good luck, hope this is helpfull.
