Hi, if it is making a clicking noise then it is probably the starter. If its and older car jump start and take the red wire off the battery. If it shuts off its the starter. If you can get to the starter hit it with a small hammer some times they just lock up. Take it to any autozone and they will tell you for sure. it also could be the fuel pump, you didn't say what is was doing. You must figure out if it getting gas e.t.c
Take care

If door is open , interior lights may be on and killing the battery. The door switch may be bad and that may be why the door wont close.

Car wont start

Sounds like your battery is either flat or wont hold charge. When you start a car ALL the power goes to do that. When you get a jump you are actually using the other cars power as well as yours. Replace your battery.

When trying to start my car it is turning over but wont start. I have been told that it was either the alternator or battery. What can I do?

If the engine is turning over (cranking) then the battery is good. If the battery does not have enough power to start the car, then that will need to be checked first. If the engine cranks and wont start, then a mechanic will need to check it over.

Car wont start

I am sure you have checked the battery, if so & good, look at the starter solenoid, on the large battery stud there might be two wires, one is the battery cable, the other is the power feed to the car, if you have this wire they have a fusable link inline, follow the wire and verify you have power on both sides on the link. This will get you started.
