Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

HI, my car for the past few months has been giving me trouble with not wanting to sart right away. The key just goes click click click and then the engine will turn over and it will sart no problem. I though it was battery related, so I replaced the battery and cleaned the terminals, but this morning it wouldnt start at all. It just keeps going click click click with no results. Could it be the starter??? 2001 Mitsubishi Galant

It could be the solenoid on the starter that is clicking and needs replacing.

My question is--- Why is this still an issue a few months later?
--- You need to start diagnosing these problems when they first happen,so you resolve them and have reliable transportation again.

Was the Battery Tested in any way or you just replaced it in a wish and hope type approach?

if it has spark and only tries to sart when you prime then it is a fuel problem. pull the fuel hose where it connects to the injectors and run it into a container then turn on the key and see of fuel runs into the container, if not you need a fuel pump or filter. careful not to spill fuel all over the place. have someone turn on the key while you watch if fuel comes out so they can turn key off right away and not burn your stuff down.

had same problem, they told me it was injection system, replaced $750.00 later still had same problem.turns out it was a hose that supplied the injectors,it had a hole in it,replaced and it was fine.located under plenum, also check egr valve,it loads up with carbon, you can buy a gasket with screen.

Alot of the time the anti theft security system goes bad and shuts off the starter. This is common in GM vehicles.Try turning the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, wait 10 minutes NO LESS. turn key back for a few seconds then try to start it. Might have to do this up to 3 times. If that works for you, You will need to go to this site to find a solution for the problem. It will not go away, only gets worse. Hope this helps http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

You need to replace the relay or the ignition switch, check for power to the relay in the crank position,[pin 85 or 86] in the plug the relay was taken out of to see if the power to the relay goes away as soon as it is in the run position. If so replace the relay,if not, replace the ignition switch[not the key switch the switch the key switch turns].
