Oil pressure light on after rebuild on the engine ...why?

Never start a new built engine without turning it over a while to build oil pressure first. Then if there is no oil pressure you either have a bad pump, gauge, or possibly a clogged filter.

Oil pressure guage gone goofy

Have your mechanic check the true oil pressure with a pressure gauge, and go from there. If it's good, maybe the shorting sound you heard is the wiring from the oil pressure sender on the engine to the dash. Was the sound coming from back of dash, or from the engine area, or where? Be sure and let your mechanic know.

Want to find the oil sender unit to install T hook for mechanical oil guage

Try looking on top of the water pump. There should be a small hole about the size of a pencil eraser. I have had both electric dummy lights and mechanical gauges for oil pressure. I recommend sticking with the electric dummy light. When the cheap mechanical guage is working, you have to monitor it all the time. Something you won't be doing while driving, or engaged in other activities if this is a stationary engine. The light will get your attention faster.

I got in my 2001 Expedition, started it up and the oil pressure light came on. The guage was down to 0. I stopped it and started it again. The guage press. went up and then slowly dropped at first and...

oil pump gears inside the lower engine, or electrical. 1st make sure its full on oil, then sheck it with another pressure guage to confirm its not actuall pressure.

I have a 2006 Mazda 6 here in Australia and wont to fit a electric oil pressure guage. Wear do i put the sender

I believe you have to put in place of the oil pressure swtich that is already on the block of the engine to determine low oil pressure.

When my truck gets real hot the oil preasure guage starts bouncing when truck idles as soon as truck is put into park or is reved up a bit it stops bouncing

You may have a Faulty Oil Pressure Sender.
Here are some reason why your guage is bouncing:
  • Corrosion or faulty electrical connections
  • If the oil pressure gauge is pegged low after the engine is running, or is pegged high after the engine is running, or if there is intermittent illumination of an oil pressure indicator light, the sender could be faulty
You can find the oil sensor on the left hand side near the Oil Filter, as long as you don't hear your lifters ticking and making lots of noise. it's not your oil pump failing.
Good luck and hope this helps
