Hi Q1 : this could be the ignition coil relay not giving you any spark at the plugs, when you turn the ignition on do you hear a click of sorts? if not locate your fuse box and find the ignition coil relay and give it a tap if it does not click when you turn ignition on, then its faulty and needs replacing also you need to check the live feed to the coil packs and see if you are getting any voltage to them, Q2 fuel pump, numerous things could stop this working, does your vehicle have a factory fitted immobiliser? or one that has been fitted? this could be the fault with the fuel pump + ignition also, has your vehicle got an emergency fuel cut off switch? ( some models have some do not ) this may have tripped if it was accidentally knocked in some way, have a look under the hood and see if you have what looks like a red button that has a red rubber top, press that just to check, i gather you have checked all fuses and wires to the pump? have you got a live feed to the fuel pump? locate the pump, pull off the plug should be 2 wire type, turn ignition on and see if you get a feed...well i hope that will give you some more ideas to look at for now good luck..please vote thanks

Hi there, I am currently having a similar issue with my 99 cavalier 2.2L. I have found that the fuse box under the hood has power going into the box but when I pulled the fuel pump relay I found that thgere is no power to all 4 prongs. I then realized that there is a problem with my fuse box. I took it out and rebuilt the broken connections and now it wsorks fine. Please let me know If I was any help. Thanks

hey there thanks for the solution but this was done at the dealership they thougtht the same thing but it was ok but bad news was it was the cars computer that sits under the right front fender it was wiped and luckly i have a farm account with parts plus and got a brand new one for $147.30 instead af $265.30 so now we wil see if this is finally the problem i really hope so
I now have a little bit over $1000 wrapped up in this with new parts and shops that have said we dont know but it is now being worked on by the chevrolet house so we will see and one good thing is they are not charging me for it cause they were the ones that said if the chevy house in my city cant fix it they will so they now have it
    Best regards

Leaking oil into the cylinder

This could be valve seals on these 2 valves. Or this could be bad alignment of the rings groves when they were installed. Have you done a compression test this is where i would start. And if you suffer low compression the compression rings could be broken or aligned improperly. If you need further help just ask me.Remember to rate my solution

I have a 98 Cavalier, I have replaced the thermostat 4 times but it continues to overheat. It has a new water pump and new coolant. I replaced the head and gaskets after it overheated so much it warped the...

I have compiled a list of things for you to help you solve the problem of Overheating.#1 Radiator core blocked or radiator grill dirty or restricted.#2 Are the electric cooling fans turning on when they are supossed to? #3 Is the radiator cap maintaining proper pressure? #4 Check the ignition timing. #5 Replace the engine collant temperature sensor. The engine coolant temperature sensor sends Data to the on board computer thats how it determas part of the ignition timing and when to turn the cooling fans on and off.The only other thing I can think of is when you installed the new cylinder head did you use new cylinder head bolts? It is highly recomended to do so.I had a Cavallier myself once only a year or two older than yours and I put on a new cylinder head and every thing else. However in the end it turned out it was a bad Radiator. So I put in a new one and everything was OK. Good Luck and have agood XMASS.( PS/I hope you find this helpfull and give me a good rating).

Engine torque specs for 1996 chevy cavalier 2.2l

For 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L SFI OHV 4cyl the check the next Head Bolt Torque sequence...

------------ front | 8 4 1 5 9 | of | | engine | 7 3 2 6 10 | ------------

Step 1: torque long bolts 8,4,1,5, & 9 to 46 Ft/Lbs torque short bolts 7,3,2,6, & 10 to 43 Ft/Lbs
Step 2: torque all bolts an additional 90 degrees Recheck final torque in sequence

*** CAUTION *** engine uses Torque To Yield head bolts (TTY) that permanently stretch during the initial installation. New head bolts must be used when cylinder head is replaced or re-installed to obtain proper torque.

Hope helps (remnember rated this).

Corsa 14 it frose due 2 no antifreeze tried 2 start it cambelt not snapped but does seem 2 lock engine will it had damaged valves ? is it worth trying a cambelt ?it a 1996 model 16 valve .

i would say no if it froze then it has poss. cracked the cylinder head and/or block
if the engine locks up then most likely the cylinder has water or ice causing a hydrastatic lock
best advice i can give you is get a used engine
hope this helps

If it is a 2.2 yes. Start with pulling of the timing cover and checking the timing chain. It doesn't take long to get off.
