I would start by checking for a blown fuse, then check the brake light bulbs, then check the brake light switch down by the brake pedal lever, in that order, you will find the problem within those checks.
GOOD LUCK !!

Rear Side marker lamp does not get brighter when step on brake. Only on passenger side. Driver side works fine. Replaced bulb. Checked fuse, still no work. Light is on just doesnt get brighter when step on...

Did you put in a single one double element bulb in the housing.

A double element bulb has two lighted filaments, one that lights with tail lights and one that lights up with brake lights.

If it is a double element bulb, are both lit up when installed and brake pedal not pressed. If so, check break light switch under dash board at top of brake pedal.

Cruise Control

Voltage from the brake light switch deactivates the cruise control . Have an assistant press on the brake pedal while you check that the brake lights are working properly. Brake lights that dont come on or dont shut off need to be fixed and go from there. Sorry if this doesnt answer you question but I thought i would give it a try.

My 1997 blazer all three brake lights wont work ,checked the fuses all good .parking lights and turn singnals work fine .when i push the brake pedal you hear a noise comeing down from the pedal. please...

There is a switch on the back side of the brake pedal that turns on the brake lights (it looks like a button) when you press the pedal, I would start by finding that switch, pressing it by hand and seeing if anything happens. If that doesnt work then the switch probably needs to be replaced.

If you have a multimeter you can remove the switch and test it to see if its working.

With the switch not pressed, check the resistance between the two leads, it should read infinity.

When you press the switch the resistance should drop to zero.

Anything else suggests a faulty switch, which you should be able to get at your local auto parts store.

The shift lever is locked in park position...cant even press the button on it.What to do? (2006 Chevy Impala LTZ)

Take a look and see if the brake lights are working, the power to release the shift lock comes from the brake switch when you step on the brake the shifter is unlocked. i had a few of these that needed new brake light switches, first try starting the car and stepping on the brake pedal as hard as you can and then try shifting,if this works replace brak switch, next if that doesnt work check the brake light to see if they work if not or if so check all fuses even under the hood fuse box, hope this helps. here a picture of the shift release soleniod it on the steering column, dissconnect and slide by hand to release shifter until repaired.0b1056c.gif

No brake lights rear light only on on pass sideive changed one relay block but it still doesnt work

replace your stop light switch located up under the driver's side dash touching the brake pedal arm (lever)
it has a pin that comes out turning the brake lights on when you press on the brake.
the master brake cylinder returns the brake pedal when you release it; the stop light switch button is pushed in turning the brake lights off again. then: if there is another problem I will help you but, this is what you need to do first.

Horn and brake lights

First if brake lights arent working then the shiftlock wont work. Works off of same circuit. I would check fuses for brake lights and also horn. Not exactly sure on the 92's but good chance theres fuse's inside car and also under hood.
