That make may have not had a car made without a/c but another make of car may have the same exact engine but without a/c.I had the same exact problem with my Buick(I think it was a 1992,it's been a while)but there was a Chevy car that had the same exact engine as mine, but had no a/c so I used the belt made for the Chevy and bypassed my seized compressor. Please let me know what engine you have and I will look for the same situation. If you want to you can research it too, that's up to you though, but I have nothing but time.Since Olds is basically the same as Buick, and mine was a 1992 and yours is a 1996,I bet we can find something. You obviously live up North too if you're willing to go without a/c(I would hope).I am from the North too but moved to FL 10 years ago.

Seized A/C compressor

The cause of this is that the roller bearing that the AC compressor pulley turns on is frozen up, the bearing can be replaced but you will need to buy the pulley assembly to get the bearing and you will need a special puller to remove the pressed on pulley. As far as finding a proper belt size to bypass the compressor that is nearly impossible to do, you may get the measurements right but in most cases the belt size you need will not be available, When the factory builds a car or truck with "AC Delete" they install a bypass pulley and the same belt is used for both with and without AC. The cost to replace the bearing is low, and that would be the by far the easiest thing to do here. You can buy the AC tool you need online, just google the year and make.

My 98 aurora rear shocks have nothing left. it bounces all over road can i put regular shocks on rear or do they make a self filler kit to bypass the compressor? whats the cheapest, but safe way to fix it?

You want the safest way, the filler kit will not work...You need to replace them and get your mechanic to check your front shocks as well because if the front ones are bad and you replace the back only, your car will look like a drag racing car and you will have extremely bad handling..

Can the a/c compressor be bypassed with a different belt? If so, what do I need to buy? I have a 4.0L 2002 Aurora.

Why would you want to do that?

If the compressor is bad or frozen, just disconnect the wiring or pull the A/C fuse and leave it on the pully.

98 Olds Aurora A/C won't take a charge and gauges don't move (high or low sides). the pressure is 55 on the low and 120 on high but do not go up or down but compressor is running.

is the electric clutch engaging? if so your compressor is shot. if not, check the fuse panels (under dash and under hood). It could also be a relay located in the fuse block under the hood. Hope this helps.

Power steering pump and belt replacement on 1997 olds aurora

More than likely it's the A/C compressor clutch is going bad. Cut the old serpentine belt off and install a shorter belt to bypass the A/C compressor for now.

99 olds aurora ac issues

Both switches are simple on/off, so you can test with an ohmmeter or just bypass with a paper clip. See your diagram at the link below.
