SOURCE: 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis hesitation and jolting from 35-45 mph

Sure, the more the throttle and the longer its open the more gas is being injected so if the spark is not there it will spotter. I think you have nothing to loose with an ignition tune-up. It'll be more economical than taking it to a mechanic and still ending up with the same problem. You should change the fuel filter also it could be clogged and there is'nt enough fuel delivered at these speeds. You can also try a fuel injector cleaning solution the kind you pour in the gas tank. This might work for you.

SOURCE: 97 concorde with 3.5 engine @ 40 to 45 mph it starts bucking .

Mine did this too, and after having it scanned at a garage, it turned out to be the speed sensor on the transmission. disconnecting the battery for a few hours might work, also. Drive car immediately after reconnecting battery, so the computer can re-learn the shifting pattern. Be sure to drive normally and let it shift through all gears, then go onto a highway and get it up over 60 MPH and punching it down now and then into passing gear. This may help, if none of the sensors are bad. If you try this and light goes out and it shifts ok for awile, then symtoms return, then you definately have a bad sensor on the tranny. There are several of them.

Check your Back pressure valve. The hose on the top of the EGR runs to the backpressure valve loated on the firewall of your car. Also check the mass air flow sensor. There are plenty of times when the EGR code pops up that something else is wrong with that system

96 corolla hesitates and jerks

The jerking and shuddering at 45-50 mph seems like it could be a transmission/torque converter problem. Check your transmission fluid. Make sure it is at the right level, and that it is not dark or burnt. It should be a bright red or pink.
