Question about 1988 Chevrolet S-10

1 Answer

Hi, I have a 1988 Chevy S10 with the 2.8L, 5spd., 2wd pickup. I was curious how come the engine is hard to start ( have to give it a couple pumps before i turn the key) and how come the high-idle takes forever to come down. Also to add to this later when it warms up and I push in the clutch the engine Rev's and stays at a high Rpm until I let the clutch back out in a different gear. Any Solutions?

If it is a fuel pump, you're going to need to drop the fuel tank to access it.

I have a 94' Toyota pick up truck. 2wd, 5spd and my transmission or something is grinding pretty often, I might shift too quick. But it sounds like a roaring while driving, and sometimes it sounds like...

Sounds to me like your transmission is just plain worn out from running with no fluid in it. I have an early 5 speed from the 1988 Toyota that works fine if your interested. I have the same from an "84 in my "86 Toyota pickup I just took off the road last January. The '94/'95 should be the same if you want to keep your truck on the road. Mine had frame rot, typical of these trucks.

No fuel to the engine

First, check that you have fuel in the tank. If yes, check that your fuel pump is functioning correctly.

You might check the PCV valve and grommet,I'm assuming it's EFI,if the valve isn't sealed tight it will cause the motor die at lower RPM's
