If its just a pressure type you need to check to see that cold water is going in, (check the cut off valve to be sure its open ) if your home uses a pump system,, be sure that the pump is working, or hasn't blown a fuse

Heater not blowing hot air

Sounds as if you have a temp actuator gone bad & stuck on the ac side. If not you can make sure your heater core isn't stopped up. Take the hoses off at firewall going to heater core and shoot water in each side with a water hose nozzle till clear water comes through it. Sometimes flushing a radiator system isn't good enough.

Heater not blowing hot air

when you do the inside heater core you need to back flush the system. then do it forward do this a few times. then put back together and leave the top off the filler tank for the water. run engine keeping it topped up with water. have the heater open but not on fast blow 0 or 1 get the engine up to temp and as the fan starts to kick in turn engine off this will make a lot of the water come out don't top up at this point, now wait for the engine to cool down and then top up. wile the engine is running you will see the air come out and bubble out, you should notice it getting hot inside the cab but carry on with it till the end. as i have put in this post run for a day without anti freeze in then put this in, by taking the cap off. and undoing the the bottom pipe. then when tank is empty put the pipe back on and fill with anti freeze. full strength not mix. run engine for 5-10 min without the cap on then let cool down and put the cap back on should be all good then.

How do you open the moist cap? i want yo fill it with water but it wont open

What is this cap on?? Radiator or windshield washer reservoir? Something else?

If the radiator, most newer cars have a plastic bottle or tank that has a "cold" and "hot" level indicated. You should be able to see the coolant level thru the tank. You should NOT need to open the radiator cap if your car has this tank. Add a 50/50 mixture of water and coolant (of a type your car requires) up to the "cold" mark and start the car. Let it run with the heater set to HOT and fan set to HIGH. Continue adding the 50/50 mixture to maintain the coolant level to the HOT level mark on the tank as needed with the engine running. Stop when there is HOT air blowing out of the heater.

If your car does NOT have this tank, you may only open the radiator directly when the engine is COLD. Wait several hours for the engine to cool after shutting off before attempting to remove the cap.

When cold, press DOWN on the cap WHILE turning. Most caps will come off after a 1/4 to a 1/2 turn. Start the engine and set heater HOT and fan to HIGH. Continue to add a 50/50 mixture of coolant to the radiator until the heater blows HOT air. The coolant level in the radiator should be just under (1" or less) from the bottom of the radiator opening.

Pressure in the header tank with cool water is a classic sign of head gasket blowing between cylinder and water jacket. Not bad enough to blow water into the oil yet.

Overheating problem

i had something similar once, it ended up being the intake radiator hose, it has a metal coil inside, mine was broken and when you revved the motor it would **** the hose shut and overheat, but under 2000 rpm it was fine .

That sounds like water leaking from your over flow tank? Is it coming from the area behind the glove box on the passenger side? If so, open the hood and take a look at the over flow tank. Is there any fluid in it? Is the hose going to the over flow tank healthy and without holes? Has it come unclipped or unfastened from the over flow tank? Has the tank itself cracked? Is your car over heating? You could have problems with your heater core. Is the water that is leaking hot? If your car is not registering as hot or over heating, and water is being sent to the over flow tank (because it is over heating) which is leaking or the hose has failed ect - then I would also suggest checking your thermostat to figure out why it is not registering the vehicle as hot?

A BMW that is hot after only two or three miles generally has air in the cooling system. Did you turn on the key and turn up the heater to open the heater valve, and then pour water unto the expansion tank until pure water came out of the bleed screw?

Fiat seicento 2000 reg keeps overheating after going 5 or so miles, light comes on then grumbling and water from expansion tank. had new radiator switch put on, took fan off and tested-works ok- but not...

This may be a puzzle...
The seicento (I drive the same car) likes to create problems in the heater section of the cooling system. The small pipes to it (behind the carburator) may be blocked or the entire heater may simply be dirty. Flushing the system with a water hose may help. Usually this problem starts slowly and goes away if you re-start the engine and then excellerate a few times. Check if your heater blows hot air - if yes, and if he keeps blowing hot air (does not cool down and get cold) ther is no blockage. If you have a blockage, your heater will only blow hot for a little while and then comes normal cool air - if this is the case, you have a blockage right in your heating system which runs your cooling system hot and the cap of your cooling tank will start leaking. This is a comon problem on older Seicentos....
Other general problems can also be the case, like defective thermostat, fan motor does not come on (check fuse and relais first).
In some cases, ther might be some air trapped in the cooling system and doing the above will also cure it. At last, check if your water pump is working.

There is a leaking coolant hose, or a perforation of the Heater Matrix.Often a temporary quick fix is to shut off the incoming Hot Coolant and crimp the return to engine hose with a Long Nose snap lock.
