SOURCE: 2001 Kia Sportage runs rough

Yes my frend open the bonnet and stand infront of the car, on the left hand side between the engine and the boddy there is a black round container with pipes going into it. next to the container there is a vacume switch, 99% of the time this pipes going into the switch is brohen or the pipe is leaking. SOURCE: Kia Sportage slight missfire (intermittant)

This car should still be under warranty. If I had to venture a guess based on experience, I would say that the insulators on the coil packs might be leaking. Take it into your nearest dealer and see what they will do. Under warranty they should also cover a rental car. Let me know and I can see what else I can do for you.

SOURCE: 2005 Kia Sportage. Looses acceleration going up hills.

When going up hills is the engine bucking and missing? Also for the hard start warm problem, check the fuel pressure regulator for leaks into the vac line.

SOURCE: misfire and poor acceleration in kia sportage 1999

Poor acceleration would be from the misfiring, so start there. As Ruben said, do a code scan for trouble codes. Does it misfire all the time, or only under acceleration? Use insulated pliers and pull the plugwires off one at a time (and replace) until you find the misfire. The misfire will not change engine speed when removed, but a plug that is firing will slow the engine noticeably, maybe even stall it. When you find the misfire, it may be a bad sparkplug, bad plug wire, or the coil for that cylinder.
Be careful with the plug wires. Before you begin, loosen them from plug and reinstall, so they are easy to pull off when engine is running.
Good Luck.

Hi Missippirebe, I think you should replace the fuel filter and if the problem persists check fuel pump pressure. It should be at around 3.7 bar. Regards John

1999 kia sportage chassis acceleration sensor failed. I need the location and what it looks like.

The chassis acceleration sensor is located on the left side below the motor. Not on the motor but on a little metal plate connected to the body. I paid $55 at KIA for the part. The part # is 0K2NC-18911. They say it's a universal part. It took me two days to convince them the part even exist. But I have it now. I hope this helps.

Hesitation on acceleration pulls down on hills it is cold blooded and lack of power

My brand new kia sportage 2L purchased in January 2010 gave me problems from the start. First gas tank was squeezed sometime before and vehicle kept running out of gas even though gas gauge showing gas inside. Dealer replaced gas tank. More persistent problem is the vehicle hesitates to accelerate especially if not driven for about three hours or so and when on an incline. Went back to dealer on several occasions but no solution. any ideas?
