Question about 1990 Lincoln Continental
I AM LOOKING TO SOLVE THIS ONGOING PROBLEM..CONSTANTLY BURING OUT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH..
IS IT BECAUSE (87 LINCOLN..HEADLIGHT PLASTIC TERMINAL) CANNOT WITHSTAND THE HEAT GENERATED BY THE ELECTRIC POWER DEMAND OF THE LARGE EXCALIBUR HEADLIGHT CURRENT NEED FOR THE ANTIQUE CHRIOME LIGHTS...AND THUS IT IS MELTING THE PLASTIC 187 LINCOLN HEADLIGHT SWITCH ?
A FORIEGN CAR CUSTOM SHOP SAID TO TO THE FOLLOWING
1) INSTALL "CERAMIC UNIVERSAL HEADLIGHT SWITCH TERMINAL" MEANT FOR ANTIQUE VEHICLES
B) HAVE THE CUSTOM ELECTRONIC REPAIRMAN JUST FOLLOW/ TRACE THE HEADLIGHT WIRING AND TEST IT TO SEE CURRENT OUT PUT.. (WIRE TO THE NEW TERMINAL AS LEAVE A ELECTRONIC SCEMATIC PASTED UNDERNEATH THE DASH FRO FUTURE METAINANCE NEEDS..ALSO MAKE A COPY FOR THE WIREING CODE BOOK FOR THE INTERMINGLED 1987 LINCON TOWN CAR CHASIS / 1937 EXCALIBUR HEADIGHTS SWITCH THAT MAY NEED MODIFICATION..TO WOKR PROPERLY..?
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION... AND COULD YOU RECOMEND A USED PARTS HOUSE WHERE I CAN GET THE LINCOLN HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND ALSO AN EXCLAIBUR PARTS HOUSE WHERE I CAN GET THE EXCALIBUR HEADIGHT SWTICH AND SEE THE WIRING DIAGRAM AND ELECTRICAL OUTPUT OF EACH COMPARED TO THE TYPE OF PLASTIC THAT IS BEING USED..?
OR MABE THERE IS A SIMPLE SHORT CAUSING THIS PROBLEM.?
OK, if you are to modify the original system to use the Large Excalibur Headlights and you are burning out the headlight switch, I would try to ask the electric shop to put a relay in there that can handle the increased load and have it hooked directly to the battery terminals so that it won't burn out your stock switch which has plastic in it.
