My car did the exact same thing to me. Steering wheel locked, key won't turn...wiggle steering wheel, still won't unlock...I got it to turn with my spare key. My key was too worn to start the car.

You have to wiggle the steering from side to side once it is locked. While wiggling it about try to turn the key at the same time.

SOURCE: My key won;t turn in the ignition> The wheel

Try this -
Turn the steering wheel HARD - in the same direction the wheels are pointing - have a strong person do this - while you try to turn the key WITH the foot on the brake and the car in park or neutral.
This releases the pressure on the steering column.

Please let me know if this workd

Stuck eldorado key in DTS ignition now car won't start

Make sure your steering wheel isn't locked. Sometimes a key won't turn until you jiggle the wheel while trying to turn the key.

Steering/brake is locked and key wont turn

Assuming the car is not running and you are trying to start it, sometimes the steering wheel is locked from the wheel thrying to turn back on itself and this won't allow the key to turn. Try turning the steering wheel all the way to the left or right then while the wheel turned, try to turn the key.

2003 honda accord/ key wont turn, steering wheel is locked

To fix your problem, you have to turn the steering wheel either to the left or right as much as you can, then try to turn the key in the ignition. When the steering wheel locks, the key won't turn. By manually holding the steering wheel out of the lock position, the key will turn again and you're steering column will be back to normal.

I put my key into the keyhole near the steering wheel so I could start the car, but for some reason my key won't turn, like it's stuck, what can I do to fix that?

Try moving your steering wheel to the left then jiggle the key until it releases, if no luck try the same thing moving the steering wheel to the right, or combination of both ways, If this works then there is nothing to worry about, it can happen almost to any vehicle, you are just in between the wheel locking mechanism and the ignition start or the removal of the key, a common problem in the design of the wheel lock, to prevent it from happening again, just have your steering wheel were you want it before starting or turning off you car. My steering wheel locks up when I put it in park, and when I try to restart it, it won't crank. The key won't turn. What do I need to do?

grab the steering wheel and turn it left or to the right and sometimes you might have to put a little effort in it but one way the steering wheel will move about 1-2" and as you are moving it with one hand take the other hand and turn the key and it should turn a lot easier.this is a common thing and if you can try to have the wheels straight and try not to use the steering wheel to get in or out of the vehicle and the wheel should not lock and make it so hard on you.you have to use both hands at the same time one moving the wheel and the other one turning the key but start moving the wheel in the in direction that it moves the most then turn the key.

When I put the key in and hold the steering wheel it won't unlock and my key won't turn

the steering wheel has a locking devise released by the key when starting, at times the wheel is turned in a way that keeps pressure on the lock that makes turning the key harder, this is the same in most cars, so a little jiggle of the wheel will make turning the key much easier, please take a moment to rate my reply Good Luck
